Scooby Doo!

Long time no post. Me been busy man.

Any road. I'm back, and soon and I'll be bringing terror back to the roads of the UK.

I've bought myself a new Scooby Impreza. Should get it around the end of March. 2003 model 5 door WRX in black.

It'll be my fourth Impreza, after a 3 year gap. I can't wait to feel that turbocharged thrust again every time I squeeze the loud pedal.

Which brings me to my only whinge on the matter - how our beloved insurance companies have changed over the past few years.

An additional £100 just because I'm putting the Prodrive exhaust on it... Thieving bs!

Not worth taking that chance- they'll look for anything to get them out of making a payment!

Bleck. That's why I only get cheap cars and the legal minimum of liability insurance. Filthy insurance cartels aren't getting any more of my money than is mandated by law!

but why should an exhaust increase premium ?
i know it does, but why should it?
an exhaust on any car is hardly going to transform the performance or have a huge inpact on the value of the car.

Not to mention now you're one of those dangerous types who actually takes your driving seriously! You must be more likely to get into a crash if you're paying attention to the road, driving briskly, than if you're jabbering into your cell phone, drinking coffee, or tuning the radio like a good lemm... Er, commuter!

Might be worth checking a few sepecialist insurers, they're only worried if a mod makes it go faster or makes it dangerous in any way, they won't penalize for things like trim, alloys etc. Mr Red Telephone and the like are looking for any excuse to increase your premium so that they can afford to make Mr Bog-Standard's insurance cheaper!

Actually, I was saying just the opposite...

Bluebottle, you really think they ever make _anyone's_ insurance cheaper?

No, just Mr 40+ Accountant from Surry who drives a Monectra Eurobox with no extras or 'modification'

Used to have a Talbot Sunbeam 1300 with nearly 100bhp at the wheels. Much of that was courtesy of a Skip Brown exhaust system which, at the right revs, added 10% power, much improved response, better torque curve and sounded lovely *drools* 96db on full throttle.
