The safety car's biggest use is to help the field reach and maintain a safe speed. With a Code 60 it is not longer needed for that purpose.

Drivers should be told on the radio where on the course the problem is so they can be careful there. Marshals should be given a decent sized portable flashing arrow to quickly set up next to the area of concern, directing the traffic away from it, and then they can set down cones and anything else they need at a later time.

I dont watch alot of the Nurburgring 24 hours, but from what I've seen a safety car is practically never deployed. There was a huge accident with a McLaren MP4C and all they did was swarm the area with yellow flags. Drivers slowed way down when they got near the crash, and then sped up and continued racing when they got past.

The Nurburgring 24 hours had another crash on that high speed back stretch and again thats all they did. Now if they're trusting drivers to come down to 60 on their own by seeing yellow flags, I think a Code 60 would be safer and would work better.

I'm sure the ACO or whoever can spend more then the 5 minutes we spent thinking about the solution and fix any problems that might arise by going to a Code 60.

You need a combination of code 60 and N24 style intervention vehicles...

1.So car crashes and code 60 is issued

2.Cars slow down to 60mph all around circuit

3.Marshals assist drivers from cars and start to clear accident

4.Intervention vehicles are parked a few hundred meters in front and behind the accident

5.In intervention vehicle zone there is double waved yellows, cars must go much slower ( must be prepared to stop )

6.Accident is cleared

7.Intervention vehicles removed as well as double waved yellows

8.Code 60 removed field goes back to green
