Agree Fassler's a solid driver but it's another level of disruption to ORECA's build up that can't be ideal for them.

bil588 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Nicolas Lapierre was tired on test day due to a virus so Marcel Fässler will replace him on the # 6 machine with Oliver Panis and Simon Pagenaud.

The doctor ruled driving this weekend out for Lapierre, per DSC.

Strange !!! On the forum of Endurance-Info I've read from a guy who attends today scruteneering that the sole MP1 italian team(Lucchini Judd)is leaving the circuit !!!!

If this is the case (a) I'd be astonished if a Lucchini were ever invited back to Le Mans and (b) it raises interesting issues about the outcome of the conversations Epsilon Euzkadi were having about their second car.

This is exactly the sort of scenario that I thought the reserve list was designed for - especially given that all of those on the original reserve list were second cars and thus could be expected legitimately to be in the Le Mans region with their teams anyway.

Let's wait and see - I'd be sad to see the Lucchini not run, even sadder to have only 54 cars on the grid.

Failed scrutineering maybe?- they were supposed to be running a revised front suspension or something weren't they, so possibly changes made to the car have run foul of the scrutineers and can't be sorted at the circuit?

It's an odd time to bail out if it's any kind of unfixable technical problem, they'd have found that at the test weekend and presumably the car hasn't run since. Alternatively a money problem?- driver or sponsor jumped ship?

Whatever, I'd be surprised to see either a Lucchini or the Racing Box team at LM for the forseeable future...

surely there are no chances of the second epsilon... or not???
i don´t think it´s possible, but it would explain the movement from the test day and all the johansson, gounon and nakano appearence...

EDIT: ok, people posting fast..., is it confirmed????

Indeed it is - but where are you getting this from?

I guess I shall have to buy Badger that pint after all - although I'd really love to see the official explanation by the ACO as to how the second EE gets in? I have to say as well that it is little short of a disgrace that Racing Box have pulled out now. They should have dumped their entry weeks ago.

In fact it's not 100% confirmed but Daniel Poissenot said he contacted the "suppléants" of the entrylist and will get answer tomorrow morning

I have a speculation...
Luchinni knew they will not compete safely, and they told the ACO before the test day. But, in order, perhaps, not to un-comply compromises with sponsors, they could not forfait before scrutineering, and they waited until now, even if they knew they would not race...
ACO told Epsilon to have the car ready, and they did. ACO can say they told Epsilon before deadline but due to respect to Lucchini, they could not officialy say until now...

Respect for Lucchini?

They just need to be shown the door permanently for the shocking lack of respect they've shown the ACO, the fans and their fellow competitors.

Here's anotherone:

The fact that that second Epsilon Euskadi car has been around at the test-day as well as at scrutineering, clearly indicates to me that it was allready decided that the Luccini was to be dropped. This decision was not made today!

Now you can argue what the reason is. Is it Luccini's decision or is it the A.C.O.'s...

****ing joke.

This is the last bloody straw, the ACO are a joke.

They don't even deserve 2 places even if the rules weren't being bent!

It is not the first nor the last time an entry has forfeited very close to the race... I think maybe most competitors already knew this was going to happen... Anyhow, I agree with you that they should have forfeited much before...

If you look at the times from LMES races, and take into consideration that Epsilon´s first kilometres were at LMES Test Day, you could say Epsilon are doing a nice job to be on the times of the second pescarolo, the rollcentre, the creation..., so, why they don´t deserve a second entry???? Specially one with johansson, gounon and nakano??? Does anyone prefere Saulnier´s LMP1 effort????

Of cause this story does not look good in any way - but I will enjoy the second EE with those 3 drivers as long as it is rolling anyhow!
