can anyone even think of 22 decent GT1s?

4 closed prototypes - Pug, Dome, Lola, Aston-lola? or are we missing one?

EDIT: collins is a pillock - Epsilon

If there really are 88 'high quality' applicants for the race, then that's as good an argument as any for bringing back a proper prequalifying weekend and shelving the slightly-dodgy selection process for those that haven't automatically qualified.

Bring back the Le Mans sprint I'd say! Two 3hour races on the full circuit on test day sunday, one for the Protos and one for the GTs...

Just imagine a 40+ Prototype field taking the green flag...

Quirky cars and passionate teams is one of the joys of Lemans, just think of Mazda's win and the joy of seeing teams like Martin Short's and Ray Mallock's when they do well.

When you have been to 20 plus lemans you appreciate just how much the little teams bring to this great race.

Just think how small the number of finishers would be with out GT1!
Of the 29 classified finishers last year 13 of those were GT1, with only 2 failing to make the distance!

But how many competitive GT1 cars are out there? Excluding MC12's of course?

Should they restrict Audi and Peugeot to 2 entries each to allow other cars in? I know there was only 3 Audis and 2 Peugeots last year, but I'm sure Audi will want to keep 3 entries and there was talk of another Peugeot entry, and yes I know the limit is 2 cars per team....

I'm sure, as always, there are a number of hopeful entries that don't stand a chance, plus there will be a number of withdrawals nearer the event, so it should be a quality field this year, lets just hope that they can find half a dozen LMP2's that can last 24 hours for a change.

Interesting, I had 26 cars in LMP1 before the ACO announcement, and 13 in LMP2. I've added a couple in LMP2, and started a GT1 list. There was a piece in DSC about PK using a Saleen instead of the Corvette at one point, but perhaps there is more to this story that I've forgotten... Please tell me where to edit this list, who to add, who to take off.

I think you've got Tokai wrong haven't you?

I think the plan is to enter the old LC70 Mugen this year and their own engine next?

Also I can't see Lavaggi entering two cars for LM

There is at least one unannounced entry

In LMP2 - I believe Embassy have submitted a single car entry - My guess would be that the Del bello Courage will have been entered again and there was the prospect of a new Radical for an Italian team subject to a successful entry - thereby implying that they had entered

Gt1 certainly a second LAA Corvette but I am struggling to find 22 unless they are including the two Maseratis that a. couldn't race anyway and b, their teams declined the invitation.

I did wonder whethe the EDM DBR9 might have put in an entry?

You obviously missed the in my post......nevermind.

I wish WR success BUT when you are trying to protray a world class event (not some sunday club race) teams like them do let it all down just a bit....but balanced against the other side (your points) it does make for an interesting selection dilema for the ACO.

22 Gt1s is interesting - was expecting 8 to 9 at most.....

6. Alphand Corvette C5

I see no reason the Audi could not have requested two entries for both their US and Euro teams.

I don't see how Lavaggi would be ready to run one car let alone two!
