probably not but he is rich and with a lull in his career he needs to generate publicity so why not pay to wave a flag at the biggest motorsport event in the world

He's making a film about the Ford vs Ferrari rivalry at LM in the 60s, presumably that's why he's doing this.

Haha come on, is this a serious post Simon?

I'm really not sure Brad Pitt needs to generate any publicity. There are tribes deep in the Amazon jungle that know who Brad Pitt is. And if he did want personal publicity, I don't think going to Le Mans would be at the top of anyone's list. The ACO are probably paying him.

This is 100% more valuable for Le Mans in terms of publicity.

If you look at how everyone effectively lost their minds over Patrick Dempsey in the last few years - imagine what it will be like with an actual A-list actor at the race.

Yeah I think it's great for the race. More exciting than a dignitary or a president of a car company.

That's mostly because alcohol sponsorship is not allowed in France. Last year it was Rolling Stone Magazine.
