Has anyone heard any rumors concerning which team will eventually participate in which championship with their MP4-12Cs, apart from the above mentioned Japanese series for those couple of outfits? If someone knows a bit more, maybe we could start a list and update it when the plans start to get confirmed?

ASM, Gulf Racing and probably VonRyan and Hummel will most likely go for the Blancpain series, Doerr Motorsport will probably campaign their cars in the VLN. As for the rest... no idea.

CRS will stop racing at the end of this year to focus on customer support for the McLaren. A bit of a shame to lose such a good team on the tracks.... |

United weren't announced as one of the teams getting cars for next year so how's that going to work? I can see where this will lead though, since the McLaren is designed as a GTE car and United's ambitions to race in the ALMS...anyone else see the hint?

Maybe things have changed by now, but some time ago there was an interview with Zak Brown on SpeedTV.com where he pretty much stated that his team wouldn't run a full ALMS season since he is very closely connected in his business ventures with NASCAR who wouldn't look kindly upon such a thing...

It works because McLaren only announced some of the buyers - the full list will include but not only include those names already listed. The presser has quotes from Martin Whitmarsh, so it's pretty clear they are getting the cars. Not all buyers will have wanted their programs leaked by McLaren before they have their Is dotted and Ts crossed.

Well...if we consider they have confirmed only 20 cars for next year and assume all teams listed will be getting 2x we get this...
- ASM Team - Andrew Tate - Apex Motorsport - Boutsen Energy Racing/Ginion Group - Doerr Motorsport - Gulf Racing - J.A.S. Motorsport - Klaas Hummel - Leon Price - Von Ryan Racing 10x teams x 2 = 20. Now considering Gemballa has announced they'll be running cars that's 11 teams with atleast 2 teams only running 1 car each. We'll see what else presents itself.... |

So....
- ASM Team - 1 - Andrew Tate - 1 - Apex Motorsport - 2 - Boutsen Energy Racing/Ginion Group - 2 - Doerr Motorsport - 2 - Gulf Racing - 2 - J.A.S. Motorsport - 2 - Klaas Hummel - 1 - Leon Price - 1 - Von Ryan Racing - 2 - United Autosport - 2 - Gemballa Racing - 2 A few others might be getting only one with more teams to be announced but we shall see.... |

You said there are 2 cars for the GT Asia series. Are these cars run by JAS?

Hello Mr FIRE,
As a "insider" of asian motorsport, I will confirm that JAS motorsport, the Mugen Euro/Japan/Honda backed outfit for the Asian Touring car series, will be racing in GT Asia. The drivers will be the same as the operation in ATCS/HKTCC, Kenneth Lau and Michael Choi. In addition to racing in GT asia, they will also contest in endurance races such as MMER and the asian rounds of the ILMC. |

MMER I can understand but ILMC? Surely you mean in a support race like GT Asia as the McLaren doesnt fit into any of the ACO classes unlike a situation arose similar to what United did with their R8 last year.

As in something like the Zhuhai 1000KM round of ILMC. The U.A. R8 ran in the LM GTC category, along with a DBRS9 etc. etc.
