Rules are rules. Wether you tweak them or elaborate new ones you are still adjusting.

Anyway, whats so wrong with "little perrformance tweaks"? They do it all the time.

Look, your implication was that the ACO woke up one bright morning and made up a set of rules.
Audi then opened the mail one day and saw the new rules and said: "Hmmm... sounds like a nice set of rules. Should we build a car?"
Don't you think that the ACO developed the rules in conjunction with the diesel manufacturers?
They did with the gasoline manufacturers before petrol was akin to the usage of bad language.

We all forget that the first diesel LMP was nowhere...

Its hard to judge without a fully loaded petrol car.

LMP1 - leave it alone I think it seems just about ok
LMP2 - what a great class - maintain gap to LMP1 as it is now in the ALMS not at a reduced pace
GT1 - kill it now!
GT2 - change its name to GT1
GT3 - change its name to GT2

I don't see a valid reason to restrict privateers only to a prototype class where they can't compete for overall wins. The idea (IMO) of P1 for factories only is foolish.

Hmm, I may be mistaken but I do not see where 'ger80' said anything about restricting what class "Privateers" run in, only that P-2 be Privateers only. That, in my mind, means restricting "works" teams to P-1 only!

I think adding 50 kilos to the LMP2 class is a certain sign that the ACO plan to kill off the current GT1 cars. In my opinion, a GT1 would be faster around Le Mans under next years rules.

The Portuguese motorsport newspapper Autosport on-line edition, is saying that Steve Wesoloski, from GM, in a interview to Speed TV as said that they are aiming do a overall victory in Le Mans but that depends on ACO's new regulations for 2011. A cost reduction and Streetcar look-a-like would be the GM "demands" to built a future Corvette LMP1...

Does the ACO really gona do that???

They will kill Le Mans...

I do not know if his words were misunderstood or not. But he made no demands, only stated that there where conditions under which he would have to operate in the making of decisions on which way he would steer GM's Road Racing efforts now and in the future.
