As I understood it they closed down even though Sam Li had an R8 in his personal collection that Audi would not allow him to race? A question of taking his money away from the bottomless pit danger perhaps.

My own personal guess is that we will get the following lineup:

ALMS
McNish / Capello - ALMS
Luhr / Werner - ALMS

LMS
Biela / Pirro - LMS
Premat / Rockenfeller - LMS

LM-24
McNish / Capello / Wurz
Luhr / Werner / Ekström
Biela / Pirro / Kristensen
Premat / Rockenfeller / Scheider

McNish was on Endurance Mag this week and made it very clear he wants to race in the LMS against Peugeot.

It sounded like the shorter calender also appealed.

Ullrich also comfirmed they will race in the LMS and are currently having discussions with importers.

The final decission will be made in November.

If Audi stays in the ALMS, they need McNish unless they can con Kristensen into doing ALMS/LM only and pull out of DTM. This is because Allan and Tom have been Audi's quickest drivers, and one of them will be needed to partner Capello if Audi stays in the ALMS.

But there's the possibility that Audi does Sebring/PLM only in ALMS, and does LMS/LM, especally if IMSA doesn't give in at least partially to the ACO rules.

If Peugeot stay in the LMS and Audi join them, then that will be great. We actually see a race. Not these silly Peugeot Parade days.

Well , i reckon if Nishy wants to race against the Pug's , the Audi top brass will let him do it . He has done a lot for the team and im sure he would get his wish .

My favoutite picks for the LMS would be McNish-Capello & Biela-Rockenfeller ..... then we would see sparks flying .....

Couldn't McNish and some of the other Audi Team Drivers do both? Most of the dates don't overlap!

I think TK will do what Audi wants rather than the other way round, same with McNish. However I am sure they both haver some influence.

Perhaps McNish will do LMS plus Sebring, PLM and maybe Laguna and perhaps TK will be his partner.

Audi are more likely to need quick drivers here than in ALMS I reckon...

I don't really think Audi are short of quick drivers, nor will they struggle to sign up any new hotshots.

Are Alex Wurz and Ralf Schumacher out of an F1 drive?

I hope McNish stays in the ALMS as long as the P2 competition remains competitive with respect to overall wins. Frankly I think the Porsche-Acura-Audi battle will be better than Audi/Pug in the LMS, and McNish's best skill, navigating traffic, is best employed in the tight and twisty, runoff-less confines of North American circuits.

It looks like it, though Ralf may try to get another F1 seat, but I doubt that he will get him.

Depends on if they run three or four cars at Le Mans. Three cars no problem, four I struggle to find already signed up drivers to fill the seats. I put Wurz down because he's out of F1, wants back to Le Mans and has driven (and won) for Joest previously...

It be only fun in LMS if Peugeot get there act together with reliability. If Audi comes, I feel a bit sorry for the pesca's. Ok they had to fight the 908, but they aren't so bulletproof as the Audi's (well not really at LM this year ) So they could fight Peugeot. But then again, the RS spyders are also coming to LMS...
Well if GT1 grid stays big, I won't complain

Oreca taking over Courage could be a good thing in future in P1, will the make it in time for 2008....
Well the bulletproof thing was about 908 versus R10. (I see my sentence was a bitconfusing)

Subaru_WRX_STi has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
in "Endurance Mag" on MotorsTV, Dr. Ulrich said clearly that an LMS effort from Audi, must have the support from nationals dealers, as it was in 2004 with bot Audi UK and Audi Japan, McNish too wanted to add an LMS title to his 3 ALMS trophies !

IIRC, he said they are in discussions with national dealers in the countries were the LMS will stage events, i.e promotion of events etc., not that Audi was asking for their support in order to push ahead with a program.
