Aslak Vind should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Michael Outzen is confirmed in the JWA Aston Martin V8 GT2. He tried it together with Alan van der Merwe at Barcelona, but the engine went before they could race it. Normally Michael races in the DTC, for Chevrolet in a Lacetti and has managed his first victories.

But he managed to impress Prodrive and JWA, so now he has a second chance in the thundercar

If it last long enough. Now i understand that most of Prodrive and Aston martin racings efforts are going into the Lmp1 program at the moment but i would have expected better from their Vantage program.

Danish press..

Michael has confirmed it in a press launch. He, Alan van der Merwe and Tim Sugden will test a couple of days at Pembrey.

But yeah, that V8 GT2 program is not really to be taken seriously, which is a pity for the guys involved on the team and driverside.

I'm almost positive that's a typo. I keep detailed chassis registries and according to all my research, HU03 was only used in 2005.

I think it is not a typo. It is B0880-HU03, once again we can go through the numerations of Lolas. B= Birrane (owner). 08= year of design/production. 80= type of chassis, in this case a P-2 coupe. HU= facility it was built at. 03= the specific # in the series that this chassis is. And it should be that Speedy's is B0880-HU01, B-K's is B0880-HU02 and RML's is B0880-HU03.

So it's actually a completely new chassis and not a modification of one of their old ones? http://www.lolaheritage.co.uk/news/news297/297.htm seemed to imply the latter, but it is ambiguous.

The chassis/build plate is attached to the tub. It is a new tub (and a few other pieces), with 75% of the donor chassis parts attached to it.

Whoops, all I noticed was the HU03, and just assumed it was talking about B0540-HU03, which they only used in 2005. Yes, it makes perfect sense that their coupe is B0880-HU03 though. Sorry for the confusion.

I guess that the new B08/80 tub will ad some exstra rigidity and torsional strength?

Yep, it's a new B08/80 tub (HU3), with old B05/40 parts to complete it.

No different than Audi using a new tub to complete an R10 recently, but reusing most of the bodywork from the old car.

Tim Dunlop should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi there,

Counting the days now to the Silverstone event.

My first chance to see the R10 race in the flesh, should be a good fight against the Peugeots

The RML news took me by surprise and I am so glad that they have got the car up and running so quickly and that it will be out at Silverstone. From the pics I have seen it looks superb.

Does anyone think the Aston Martin Vantage GT2 will actually make it out at Silverstone ? the Barwell car seems to be making slow progress in the USA and another one in regular competition should help both teams in the challenge against the Porsches and Ferraris.

I am working as a media photographer for the whole weekend and assuming the weather I am looking forward to getting loads of shots.

Regards

Tim

Well JWA's Aston is on the entry list.

Does anybody have a map of the pit garages at Silverstone??

As to the Vantage, Drayson/Barwell may very well be farther along if they could keep a lump in the thing! AMR has not been very impressive with their performance when it comes to this new V-8 for the Vantage!! 13 engines already have been in that car, wow, thats not good. As the home race you would hope that they have one on the grid, and lets hope that it does not have some sort of failure from under the bonnet.

Not good for a new young driver, betting a lot of trust from his sponsors on this accident waiting to happen.

909H or 908 Hybrid?

Some how I think, Audi is on their way down the same road. That would explain their rush

It seems like when they get the engine running well, they slam it into a wall. Just need to get it running and keep it on the track for a race or two to get the feel of success.
