so you only have to hit the leading car in the last lap, destroy the rear light and they have no chance to win the race. do we then really need the 24hours before?

You could then always pay the lego car team. Heuh I mean Lavaggi, to hit the leader in one of the few last laps and you have a win if your second

That is the protocol, but this time they decided to skip strait to the DQ.

After the IMSA officials taking the race from the Highcroft team in Long Beach, and now this GT2 win being taken......the officials sure aren't making any friends.....

I only just read about these DQs on PlanetLM and I have to say they really worry me - as a basic approach to deal with alleged legality (caused through accident damage), it's about as flawed as it can get!

Well, now I think we will see a Aston win in Le Mans. Pit stop in the first lap, remove the air restrictor, run the race, pit stop at 15:30 and bring the restrictor back in the car ...

two years ago at Donnington (IIRC could also be Silverstone) one of the Peugeots' suffered from being hit at the back, forcing the car to have its rear light replaced, which of course is not part of the engine cover. In the end the car wasa withdrawn.
And yes, of course you try to do what you suggested, but you would carry out such an action for the benefit of another car, because you will surely face disqualification and probably a one or two race suspension. You probably would not want that unless you get you "compensation" from the team that won because of your actions.

btw, here is our report

It was Silverstone when Martin Short quite rightly complained about the missing legality plate

Yes he was right, which begs the question where to draw the line....(the second Racing Box Lola for instance was refused on Sunday to go out again after they could not find the proper body work to replace the stuff that flew off during the first laps).

Well, I actually think it is quite easy to “draw the line”.
Example:

To be penalized:
Parts missing that endanger driver, other competitors and/or spectators (lack of lights, flying off, reduce stability, etc)
Body work intentionally removed to reduce weight.

Not to be penalized:
Bodywork that is removed from accidental contact (whilst on track) and that does not endanger driver, other competitors and/or spectators, nor does it make the car significantly (here one can determine say 0, 5% of allowed weight) below the allowed minimum weight.

There's also been a free stream for FIA GT recently.
So I understand. For technical reasons, my broadband is limited to 2mb and therefore some live streaming sites (ie Justin TV) are useless. May be worth a go though.

sounds simple indeed, but still quite subjective....and a potential can of worms.
