Subaru_WRX_STi has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Formula Le Mans in the LMS, please no, we have already a large firld of LMPs in both classes, and as a GT fan, I am worried that these FLM will knock out some GT2 entries...

Do you really suppose that any of the new rule 2011 P-2s would be better than an FLM09 with the new 5.5L LS3 Chevy (which is the GT-2 Corvette engine), which would make it basically a defacto 2011 P-2? If the FLM do actually adapt the front end of the LMPC (lights) then what makes it any different than a P-2 for 2011?

2010 is going to be a transition year for all, I doubt grids will top 40, even with FLM.

In 2011 FLM could possibly intergrate into P2, while we'll have a better idea if GT1 is going to be the premier GT class, if not, it makes no sense to retain it with GM, Porsche, Ferrari, BMW etc. in GT2.

Now we are talking about 5 class's , and when that becomes the norm we might as well have 6 class's !!!

4 is plenty , more than enough .

All an FLM car need to be 2011 P2 compliant is a smaller production based engine.

I don't think it has to be smaller (power output is about right too) - and it already is production based.

Not exactly 'for the competitors'.

So I'm asking, in a roundabout way, what is the focus of the series?
I'm expecting the Asian LMS next season to be over before the November LMS finale:

Japan - 29th-31st October
China - 12th-14th November

The sad thing about this is, in the hands of a competent outfit, just how popular with the fans would a Lambo-engined LMP be...?

Any idea what chassis they're proposing to use?
Normally i would say a Lola Coupe would be used, after all the Aston lump is in the back of the Lola Coupe, both are V12's so it seems the natural choice, however, being JLOC, it will end up being a crock of ****.

A Lambo powered LMP would get the thumbs up from me, especially with that glorious V12 wail, although, we have a very Murcielago-ish sound in the current Aston Lola LMP1's though, a Lambo engine P1 though would possibly end up like a WR etc, small entry but it would likely get a lot of love from the fan's, it all depends if it comes on through, imagine if the Lambo V12 found its way into the back of a Dome S102!

Given the fact the Asian LMS takes place in 2010 and the november date is indeed a race in Europe, the question arises where the LMS could have a race in Europe at all - regarding the weather conditions at that time of the year?

But perhaps indeed it's the rumored visit of the Middle East... although it was considered to add Abu Dhabi as a sixth round to the schedule in 2010...

DAILY SPORTSCAR are carrying a couple of news items courtesy of the French press (Le Maine Libre and L'Equipe)..............

Confirmation that LAA have been in talks with BMW about racing in the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans. If a BMW programme fails to materialise, they will most likely return to GT1 with Corvette (Le Maine Libre).

And secondly, it would appear that Sora/Pescarolo may be absent from ACO regs racing in 2010. Philippe Leblanc (MD of Sora Composites) has been unable to source the neccessary budget and has left the race team. Jean Py, President of Sora Composites, has now taken on the this responsibility. The article also covers a rumoured breakdown in the relationship between Henri and the Sora hierarchy, the suggestion being that Henri will move on elsewhere if no budget is found for 2010 (which seems reasonable to me). There is also a claim that there are people interested in buying the chassis, but the article doesn't specify whether this relates to the existing chassis or the purchase of brand new chassis (L'Equipe and Le Maine Libre).

DAILY SPORTSCAR are carrying an interesting article regarding the options apparently being considered for the 2010 calendar:

The Paul Ricard round may be extended from 6 to 8 hours.

Portimao and Abu Dhabi most likely to fill the remaing two slots in the calendar.

But, it would appear that there is either going to be a four round Le Mans Series ending at Silverstone, plus a four round International Championship for which Silverstone would also be the first round, before moving on to PLM, Abu Dhabi and Okayama, or a seven round championship which would incorporate both of the above.

Fascinating stuff!

JAS MOTORSPORT AT THE LE MANS 24 HOURS WITH ACURA LMP2

Thanks to a well-established relationship with Honda Performance Development, Honda America's motorsport department, JAS Motorsport is developing a programme to contest the European Le Mans Series with one or two ACURA ARX-01b LMP2 sportscars next year. The programme will culminate with the most prestigious race in the world: the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Is this anything new? Seems they are no further along with confirmed programme than they were a week or two ago. Would be nice to see though, even if it means an exodus of ARX-01b chassis from North America.

True, but the press release ends with the telling statement:

The first target is to finalise the necessary budget before the end of the year.

so are they actually close? or is it something they want to do if funding materializes?
