PDM Racing return with run Ed Carpenter - PLUS Team Menard to run Richie Hearn

Infiniti Pro Series standout Ed Carpenter will make history at Chicagoland Speedway when he competes in the Infiniti Pro Series Chicagoland 100 on Sept. 6 and makes his IRL IndyCar TM Series debut in the Delphi Indy 300 on Sept. 7.

Great to see PDM back, they landed a sponsorship deal with Metabolife for this race. Nice to see an IPS driver getting an IndyCar ride as well, even it's just for one race.

Full story.

Also, Richie Hearn is on the entry list, driving the no 2 of Team Menard. I heard that he was gonna test with them, it's great to see they got a race deal sorted out too

Nice to see more cars out there. What's Richie been up to these last few years. Things didn't work out in NASCAR for him, did they?

Despite the Cosworth engine, PDM will be rooted near the back, and Ed will probably only be runnign with Foyt IVe got no talent.

I think Richie broke an ankle in 2001, he was out till late 2002. He tested for Sam Shmidt's team towards the end of the 2002 season, but only got a chance to race at Indy this year when Sam bought one of Penske's T cars and qualified on bump day.

great to see Richie back and its really nice to have PDM back , I believe they are one of the cornerstones of the series , a great story about getting a team together.

not sure how good Caprnter is , Ive only seen him in a few Infinity races but he was pretty close to the front.

good luck to him anyway.

Anyways it's a good chance to verify another former IPS driver on the IRL ground.
Let's hope ED will figure out better than AJ IV, it would mena that IPS is progressing and that a driver like Mark Taylor can hope to earn his pay in the senior series!

So Jacques Lazier has been sacked twice in the one season...

Also it seems Buddy Rice is out of Red Bull Cheever Racing, replaced by Alex Barren with (maybe) a second car for Cheever himself at Fontana and Texas.

Interesting, racer69, is your source reliable? Such a change at Cheever seems amazing , what can they change about their season with tewo racing still due?

So Giaffone is back now? That's good, and I guess Barron is too good to be out of a ride. Still a shaem for Buddy, just as the Cosworth has arrived.

I know this means nothing to those on the other side of either pond, but for about a year before going to the Invisible Pro Series, Ed was running sprints, and maybe midgets, in various USAC and SCRA shows. Getting his name known out there! Maybe TG's not as dumb as people think. Though to realy get fan base, I guess he should go to Australia and NZ and run dirt in the (US)off season.

It's been a good day do far or Carpenter and Hearn. Ed won the IPS race earlier today, and Hearn was second in free practise this morning. Let's see what happens in qualifing

The IPS race hasn't even run yet. Do you know something we don't?

Are you sure? The live timing on indyracing.com said the race was over...maybe I misread it. Wouldnt be suprised, as I was coming to this thread to say that Hearn was second fastest yesterday - he was fastest today. I'll keep my eye on Hearn tommorow, he could be a dark horse in the race...

I'd give the old crystal ball a clean Down Force

Taylor has just one the IPS race, after running side by side with Carpenter for most of the race.

It was so stressful watching the live timing I'm off for a lie down

Well well, another win for Mark. Great stuff

Looks like I underestimeated Ed quite badly, he's done really well in qualifying, b3eating some top names, including one other Cosworth, and well ahead of Foyt IV
