Yes to 1 & 2
1 1956 - years race not held in June, delay re post 1955 disaster alterations 2 1953 - years were first to go past 2,000km, 3,000km, 4,000km (1953) and 5,000km (GT40 1967) - 6,000km????? not with current SC although pre-all that only 5,410km or 397 laps. (Same number of laps as 2 drivers in 917 in 1971!) https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/2...5-000-km-57433 |

4 Yes - I had 24 as one of the lowest car numbers never to win Le Mans so 12, 13, 24, 25 & (26 as question) as first 5 - but agree it should have been 27 in the order as Porsche GT1 won in 1998 - my apologies - well done https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...09-03-14_A.JPG Q5 relates to drivers |

If you haven't seen this yet, you need to. One of the best LM documentaries I've seen. The race footage (especially during the wet periods) is terrific.

DSC is doing some nice photo galleries of each year of GTLM.
I think they have more to add, but have 2015 to 2023 so far. https://www.dailysportscar.com/category/galleries |

The last couple of years, I have noticed that the winners handprints have been removed from the pedestrian streets in Le Mans, also from the saint Nicolas place. Anyone know what the plan is?

just watched a documentary i recorded a couple of days ago called "Ferrari road to immortality (2017). Had never seen it before and it wasvery good, less about the red cars and more about the drivers of the fifties particularly collins and hawthorne. Well worth watching if you can find it, the bit on le mans 1955 had some fresh bits in it as well.
