d-b should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ford Capri/rover Sd1

Thought I would put this in
As you can tell I'm a fan of the Capri & SD1
I am trying to find info & photo's of them in uk club racing
I'm especially trying to find anything on SLICK 50 class A but anything about any racing will do ie

SLICK 50
TOYO TYRES
FALKEN TYRES
GMS TICKETS MODIFIED
PRE 74
GROUP 1
K&N FILTERS
RALLYING
anything

Also I have the VFS videos for them except MODIFIED 1991 & SLICK 50 1992 (anyone help?)

Would be glad of any help or information at all

Thanks

Have you checked out our website d-b?
http://www.csccgb.co.uk/pages/kdphotos.asp

These are all from 2004. I have lots of others in our archives. I'll dig them back out and add a link to them in the near future.

Yep it was the same car. Unfortunately it ran out of brakes at that meeting and became an ex Mark 11.

It was bloody annoying at the time! We built the Mk111 in 5 weeks which also involved having the trailer stolen, buying a new one then having the stolen one returned.

hi there

couple of queries if i may?

after seeing the Spa photo's on Peter Malletts website, who was driving the brown Capri Mk1 No 96?
i have a photo of that car (with bumpers) from Mallory Park 25/5/2003 being driven by Michael Smith as No 75.
was it him again?

also, after seeing a photo on the Europa Engineering site, who was racing the red Capri at Oulton Park on 26/4/2003?.i checked out the MST website and i think it was No12,Richard Wood but i don't know for sure.does anyone know?

thanks

Apologies for the delayed reply however:

The brown Capri 300E at Spa was driven by "M Smith" which is all the entry list says.

The Red Mk111 would most likely be David Margulies (sp).

Gerry and Robyn had a coming together unfortunately sidelining Gerry for a while then Robyn went on to total his car at Mallory as I understand it. At one time in the ModProds we had a huge field of SDi, probably seven at some meetings, with me ad Ellis Bergman in our Camaros and Peter Barnes in his Holden it was like a V8 championship, great. All seemed to have faded away now unfortunately, one of the problems is the the gearbox is a weak spot, I know Gerry does not use 5th and our rules stipulated you had to run the original box something prehaps that with hindsight may have been better to allow a bit more latitude on some models.

hi there

i was at the meeting when Robyn shortened his Rover
if i remember right he went up the back of a RS2000 at Mallory's new Edwina's corner (rotten corner, too tight for cars)
shame to hear that it finished the car off

Hi d-b
I raced a Capri in the Slick 50's 1987-91, Toyo Supers 1992-94 & Falken Modprods 1995-97, a friend that used to come with me was pretty hot with the camera, I've probably got well over 500 pics from then and probably every Slick 50 Capri and most Rovers.
Are there any in particular ones your after ?

Here are a couple of pics that were already on my hard drive......

Brands 1990, mines the blue one, notice the ex-press 2.8i VVW 2W driven by Andrew Howells and before that Graham Scarborough's Letchworth Roofing Prod Saloon, this car has now been restored back to it's press car days.

Dave Thomas trying hard to catch Jim Wheals round Druids 1990

Hi Al hows the Camaro ?

Thanks d-b

DT's mount back in '87 when I started was this blue 3.0S, which was then sold to Mike Hodder who painted it red (Dave borrowed it as a 'T car' at Oulton in '88 see pic). Then it went to Nigel Williams.

Dave did some races in the Supers in '91 in his gold 3.0S, then sold it to Tony Herbert who had been racing a peppermint green 2.8i in the Supers, can't remember if Tony ever got out in the gold car.

Are you gathering pics to do a website ?, something I've been thinking of doing for a while but will probably never get round to it !

What, you mean you missed me winning the Slick 50 Championship in the last round at Mallory in 1991

Here's the Falkens at your local, Gerry, me, Andrew McKenzie & Peter barnes.

Thats fine for your own collection, I did put a couple of pics on a Capri forum which then ended up on a Capri Compilation CD on ebay !!!, I wouldn't of minded if I had been asked.
I'll have to dig the albums out and try and fill in some of your gaps.

Hi Simon, how are you? Niice to hear from you. I still have the Chevys (all 3 of them).

Thanks for posting those pictures they bought back some good memories. Interesting to see Peter barnes in the ex-Brock Holden there as he was a great Capri exponant (Mk 1 and 2) and we had many a good dice. One of the reasons me had such a hardcore of Capris in the ModProds was that we (The Racing Saloon Car Club) also started the Capri Challenge at around the same time we started the ModProds and the idea was for a seprate series of Capri only races. Unfortunately the entries were a bit slow coming in so we had to almalgamate them into the ModProds. Do you remeber the Fuller brothers David and Adrian. Davis ditched the 3 liitre and ran with a 2.4 Holbay Pinto and actually went faster. I have a few pickies in the shop I will try to remember to scan them in and post them. Keep up the good work.

PS That last picture, was'nt that what the ModProds were all about. Rover, Capri, Opel Monza (not my ill fated chevy Monza ) and Holden, where would you find a muscle mix like that on road rubber, great!
