Does anyone think that Audi and Peugeot might add downforce as the weekend goes on?

It seems that both cars were running hybrid LM/sprint aero (the 908 running the LM nose and Audi were not running the full sprint diveplane/gurney package) hoping that the track would rubber in before changing their set ups. That, of course, was before the storms rolled in and basically rained out the second practice.

With Imola being laid out the way it is, you'd think that it would favor the higher downforce cars, but neither Audi or Peugeot are really running (as of yet) full high downforce packages (most gasoline LMP1s were from the few photos I've seen), and it sort of shows--the 908 being about 10km/h or about 6mph faster in the speed trap, in spite of similar laptimes and the fastest Audi and Pug ideal laps were separated by less than .2 of a second.

Were Audi and Peugeot just feeling out the track by running a base set up (by timing and scoring it didn't seem like they were really pushing yet), or do they have plans to stick with the current aero or change their setups as track conditions require?

I do think that in race trim that the higher downforce should pay off, as it makes the car more predictable/manuverable in traffic, and should be easier on its tires.

I don't know, but I'm sure all the teams were not happy with the rain today. since nobody has setup info for this track, I bet everyone wanted as much time on the track as possible to try different things.

But the top teams atleast have setup work from the simulator. HPD does alot of that.

Wirth does have a top of the line simulator yes, I haven't seen anything like that from Audi and Peugeot though.

Interesting that Peugeot are using the LM front end - seems to be that this is now the package the car will run at all races, and theyll just dial in a bit more wing where needed. So perhaps the Sebring front-end was a one-off.

It's a park in the middle. It's very nice actually, even a pond with ducks.

Think he's talking about the Sebring aero package being a bit of a hackjob from the old 908.

In a sense.....But the old 908 was dominant. Why change anything. they did a little aero work. the weird thing is it looks similar but its completely different underneath the aero kit

Fisi is good but no Bruni, probably the best qualifier of the entire field... wasted now.

Why are their comparing Scott Tucker to Fred Makowiecki. Fred Mako is head and shoudlers above Scott tucker as a driver.....

Fred is currently 3 tenths off the GTE pole. ....And the fastest Third Sector of all GT cars.
