Taken from an interview printed on CART.COM 9/23/02:
Junqueira had been approached by a few Indy Racing League teams, but admits that wasn’t his first choice. “I want to drive at Indianapolis and in CART,” said this year’s Indy 500 polesitter. “Ovals are nice, but they’re not what I do best and I love the road courses and street circuits. “I could have made more money in the IRL and had a couple of two-year guarantees, but that is not my passion. I enjoy the challenges of CART’s four different (types of) tracks.” |

Great to see a driver standing up for his core principles and love of racing, and choosing job satisfaction above money. As a wise woman said (Princess Leia, although Liz quoted it in the Michael / Dario / Tony thread, and I'm sure she's wise as well) "If money is all you want, monwey is all you shall recieve", and Bruno clearly has his sights set higher. If Da Matta isn't around in 2003, he could be the title favourite.

I'm sure the thought of a championship has crossed Bruno's mind as well as Newman-Haas' minds. Pity Ganassi is so blinded by greed and his dislike of Bruno so he can't see it. |

Way to go Bruno, not only is he talented but a nice guy as well.
CART needs guys like this. It is good to see that he is committed to CART. Maybe he saw what happened to Dario's Website. Does Bruno have a website? we should e-mail him and tell him we are proud to have him in our series. |
