Ours went back to Care at the end of the season, no idea where it is now.

Was a great car though that was a good year!

Did you work on the DBR9 as well? It would be interesting to know how that compared to the 550 as a car to work on, as they were both Prodrive builds.

Yes, It was my baby....remember the day we took delivery.

It was a different animal to the 550, still nice to work on, but it was more fussy on "set-up", but you could get it bang on!!

I've taken the liberty of changing the title of this thread - as it's become rather more than just your introduction Nick!!

Yes, he drove the Ferrari and the Aston, I can honestly say he was the best Driver I have worked with, his feedback was brilliant and I knew that if I gave him a good car he would be bl**dy quick. - He was a funny guy too, after qualifying the car on Pole he would come in and I would say "how was the car" and he would say "S**t"....that meant it was bang on!!

Ray Mallock was interviewed in last months "Motorsport" magazine & it seems that working on the Saleen's wasn't the happiest period in his life due to some issues that he would not elaborate on - any insight on this, Nick?

I worked closely with Phil Barker, who was at the time, Mallock's Chief Engineer on the Saleens, Phil was always up beat and a good guy to work with....I never saw Ray at the track and have no idea why he was not happy...where is the interview, I would like to read it?

Last month's "Motorsport " Magazine, the green covered one. The interview was part of the "A lunch with....." series with Simon Taylor, IIRC.

Here's a little story for you Christophe fans!.....2005 LeMans...final qualifying, Christophe is on track...not long left in the session, time to put 1 more lap in...I get on the radio and tell Christophe to go for it...he wanted Pole and so did I....he starts his final lap and is quickest all the way through each sector...at "Maison Blanche", the last complex before the line, he spins into the armco damaging the right rear....now a lot of guys in the garage were p****d off, why go for pole what's the point etc.etc. When Christophe got back to the garage we had looked at the data and discovered that, had he crossed the line, he would have been on pole by over 1 second...I shook his hand and said b*****y good effort!....the car, well we worked long hours and took a mould from BMS's 550...that's racing!

That was Christophe all over and the Principal, engineer and myself got it!

You do wonder what those who don't 'get it' are doing in a race team garage in the first place?
Are you there to WIN, or going home?
