Grandslammer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Personal milestone at Castle Combe.

As a complete newcomer to computers, please forgive any mistakes I make. I would like to say Hello to everybody and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable year.Having monitored the Marshals' forum for a few weeks, I have a fair idea how things work.On a personal note I will be celebrating 25 years of marshalling on Monday May2 at Castle Combe, where it all began.

Congratulations Grandslammer. For circuit racing you're exactly 10 years ahead of me so I suppose I should have been marking my anniversary at Silverstone today, which is where I started - in the pits, like today.

Prior to joining the BMRMC (as it was then) I had done some rally marshalling, mainly small road events, as a student and was City & Guilds College MC 'Marshal of the Year' for 1983/84, the award being presented at the club's annual dinner by none other than Barrie Williams (a fact that I reminded him of at the BMMC South Midlands Region dinner last autumn - over 20 years later). I can also remember going out with my dad in about 1971 or 72 to recce events for his works sports & social club.

Better not say much more or George will have me writing a chapter of the History of Marshalling book.

Ah, that would be Dave in his GT6 attacking the marshals post then.

I'd just like to thank all the marshals who turned out at the weekend. There seemed to be plenty of orange around the circuit. I think I waved at most of you after our race.

My first time at Combe (but won't be the last with any luck!) and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Well, possibly with the exception of my excursion over the grass at camp corner... I'll try and stay on the black part next time.

And congrats on the anniversary too Grandslammer.

Mik
