And, not to forget the German series, even if that continues to struggle a little with grid sizes this season, even having opened up the engine regulations to allow F3 Open and the old F3 Italia FPT motors in.
FIA F3 looks good - BF3 has become extra seat time/income for teams primarily running drivers in other series as their main focus. We shouldn't think that this is a revival for BF3, far from it.

Interesting quote from Litespeed F3 on Twitter
"Looking to do the new British F3 season. in 2013. Much more affordable for drivers and a good platform to bounce back strong for 2014"

But with so little F3 seats available, sports car racing teams will have less talents with experience in light, powerful, winged cars.

F3 in my experince has little to do with sportscar racing. At the top level of sportscars, ie FIA WEC/ALMS the drivers are mainly ex F1 drivers or drivers with GP2/F3000 experince and who didnt quite make it in F1, or never made it into F1 as the cars are fairly similar to LMP machinery in terms of power and speed. There are s exceptions of course, and yes lots of those drivers raced in F3, but primarily they are there for their experince in GP2/F3000.

F3 is a very good category, but as a feeder series for GP2/WSR/Auto GP. Things arent the same as 10 years ago and I dont think we will see any drivers jumping from F3 into F1 in the near future.

I didn't mean that drivers must jump from F3 straight into sports cars (they mey), but that it's an intermediate step. And if they jumpr from GP2 or FR3.5, how did they get there if there's just two major F3 championships? It's less drivers.

Michael Lewis will be racing for Romeo Ferraris in Monza, according to italiaracing.net... nothing confirmed for later races. Riccardo Agostini is set to test for them this week, although he's already confirmed for Auto GP this year.

I figured he'd find his way to that operation. I think he's run out of money.

Sadly yes, he was so impressive in Italian F3, but the new F3 car wasn't as much to his style He should try GP3 or may be should have tried another team in the middle of last season.

The future of F3 - can that be the Formula 4?

I have no idea how to reduce costs. I do believe that 16 year-olds who graduate from karting should learn how to set up suspension and wings (I'd leave gearboxes to F3). The MSV F4 seems like a very bad idea.

Berger says that the 2013 Macau GP will probably be run with the old engines.

This puts the Japanese teams in a very tough situation, as they already have adopted the new engine regulations for 2013.

YES with budget cap or something along the lines to cap the spending.

Of course the Japanese get penalized for doing the right thing.

Yes they have, as well as Neil Brown who all followed the rules in applying to build the new engines....VW and Merc did not, even though they were the 2 companies who laid down the specification. The FIA then decided not to follow the correct procedure and reverted back to the old engines for the FIA F3 series to allow VW and Merc to continue. It could be a case for legal proceedings against the FIA but the agrieved parties decided I believe for the good of the sport not too. Plus I thought that FIA series had to tender for tyre supply????? Oh well .

It's a complete shambles... You'd be forgiven for thinking that the F3 rule makers and stakeholders are doing their best to kill this formula.

Kvyat will stay with Carlin in European championship, but as guest driver.

is this cheaper?

No, it's more expensive in terms of entry fees. It's always cheaper to pay for the whole season.
Actually Marciello is DQ for gearbox infridgement, pretty rare one! Has anyone watched the races? I watched DTM and it was actually good, but I didn't want to risk F3!

Actual FIA Chassis Homologation is 4 years, actual F3 Cars have been running since 2012 so 2016 will be the new FIA Regulation.

Current chassis regs will be used until the end of 2017 - surely Dallara is celebrating ...
