ger80 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
who much bhp will that cooling need?
perhaps they build special power units only for cooling like APU in planes
if we have 40° temperature gap and a cooled volume about 2m^3 it will be about ???bhp
(oh no, only one year ago i could calculate without any problems )

The Peugeot 307 WRC A/C unit uses 5-10bhp and weighs 10kg.

The increased restrictor size for closed cars will compensate for this, the 25kg increase in minimum weight will cater for the weight of the A/C unit.

The pits and any walled area isn't really an issue as by there very nature they are keeping the sounds inside the circuit.

Afterall these noise limits are only imposed to keep the neighbours outside the circuit happy.

Well at the LMES Silverstone in August it was the TVR's making the most noise around the circuit. Boy we're they loud!!!

Erki has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
ACO should make a new championship called European Temperature Holding Championship. My bets are on Electrolux

Well, I won't ask but merely point out (assuming the forthcoming news relates to plans for 2006) that your last posts on the subject suggested that we could look forward to Jota campaigning an 04S Hybrid next year. I must admit I found that news exciting enough...........

And such was their undoing in the British championship, alas.

Re:Jota, is this some news not involving a Zytek? Or involving a Zytek on another continent? I admit, as a Canadian I can only hope for developments that free this last DBA/Zytek type chassis for ALMS competition.

921kg for an 'LMP675'?

Did they ballast it up to test the car in 2006 LMP1 spec?

I've heard things that suggest that Jota will not be working with their Zytek chassis as well.

I know an Italian journal believed that Jota would be racing a new Courage LMP1 (C70?). It was also suggested somewhere that Jota would run not one but two Courage LMP1's with factory backing.

Then 'mgrs' poured scorn on these rumours and said that although Jota had considered more options than he had time to list, their current 04S chassis would be retained, hybridised, and campaigned next year.

That was the last I heard. But as we know, things can change...........

am i right in thinking that this years british GT championship was running at 114DBa and they really didnt sound very loud or exciting and the TVR's left in the end after failing the drive by noise tests at castle combe and that was their silenced brit version!

for BGT - for some reason 108db pops into my head instead, don't know if its a regulation though. The TVR's, despite being greatly silenced from their international form, still couldn't pass the noise tests. The series is horribly quiet now...

I thought (and am probably wrong) that British GT regs were 114db this year, with the 108db being Castle Combe's new noise limit

Can anyone get hold of any official figures? If BGT was running at 114, and the ACO want a cap of 113, then Le Mans in the future is going to be horribly, horribly quiet all the way down the grid...

I'm hoping that the Brit GT was standard british track fare of a sound meter 0.5m and 45 degrees away from the exhaust and registering 114 DBa. I'm not too sure of how much an effect 14.5 extra metres will make on the difference with noise (i haven't really studied much on sound waves during solid mechanics lectures )

I imagine 15 metres will make a difference but don't think it'll be by very much. How far open would the throttle be with the sound metre 0.5m away? is it 75%? that's another figure thats in my head for this but don't quite know why lol

The whole AC and extra 25 kg could be invented by Audi to meet the minimum weight (925 kg) for the R10. Read more about this nice conspiracy theory (which makes a lot of sense) on mulsannescorner.com

That thought had quite definitely crossed my mind, but I thought no, they wouldn't do that. Or would they...........?

Diesel means heavier engine and stronger (and thus heavier) drive train (gearbox, clutch, drive shafts, etc.). So it makes sense ...

Lets see tomorrow whether the R10 is indeed an open LMP car.
