you can cut and paste it if you like Billy because you're just going to get into trouble for linking another forum - don't let the displacement of the 'S' fool you - I wrote it so it's ok....

So, going by what you've written, if you don't complete 75% of any one race you get no points for that round?

In that case Lowndes would also get no points for Adelaide as he didn't finish Race 2. I would also assume that Murf has no points for the season as I'm sure he has DNFed at least one race every round!

it's in Section D VESA Operations manual, and there seems to be a lot of stuff written, crossed through and corrected - I would 'assume' ( I hate that word ) that it should read if you dont complete 75% of the race you do not receice points for that race, not round as it is written - unfortunately for Mark he didn't finish 75% of either race, so he gets zip - Lowndes finished race 1, to reference your example.

Don't shoot the messenger - Ive looked up the regs, they make sense to me, and it's on Triple8's website that Craig is in front so I certainly havent put my chin out all by myself!!!

http://www.teambetta.com/2006_media_...cfm?item=373.0

"Craig Lowndes sits in 3rd place in the championship and is the leader on the adjusted pointscore, while Whincup maintains his impressive top 10 run in 8th position. Team Betta Electrical remains the top Ford team in the race for the Teams Championship, and sits 3rd overall."

Vee8 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The following was just posted over at V8 Central, where this thread originated:

I have sought and received an official clarification of the rules from V8SA.

Mark Skaife is the leader after the dropping of worst rounds. Craig Lowndes is 2nd.

Drivers are eligible to drop any round, even ones they didn't contest. Last year, Steve Owen (Britek) would have been able to drop a round he didn't contest due to restrictions on grid size, except that he had a couple of zero points rounds anyway.

This year, Gurr, Coulthard or Fernandez are eligible to drop any round, including ones they don't contest.

Triple 8 have been informed by V8SA of their error.

Looks like the end of this thread!

Vee8

If that represents a true post, then we are in alot of trouble, because that does not represent what happnened last year at all.

If you turned up for two rounds ie the enduros, you dropped one round of the two you competed in. its in the point scores for last year on the v8 site.

I only know that's what was posted on another forum, and purports to be from the mouth of a V8SA official.

What you are saying makes sense. However, I don't think that is the point on which the whole Skaife argument swings.

Looks like unfortunately the more fickle Ford fans will use this as an excuse to belittle the man when Skaife wins the championship this year...

I really hope that's not a reference to me, Retro

Just for the record, I'm neither a Ford, nor a Holden fan....I support Craig Lowndes regardless of what he drives and right behind him would be Skaife.
I have simply found an area in the rules that is not clearly explained or defined, I would like whatever I am missing to be pointed out, if it exists, or otherwise rectified now so that there is no chance of any nonsense at the end of the year, regardless who is battling for the silverware.

It's in no way a Skaife-hunt.

The chances of Skaife winning this year is about zero. One more bad round and the guy is History. He has 3 Team mates that will make sure he doesn't win

That's why we watch the racing because any of the top 5 or top 10 drivers can win given the day is right for HIM.

To say one driver has zero chance is a ludicrous suggestion.

(stupid or unreasonable and deserving to be laughed at; ridiculous)

I was right the last 3 years and don't see any reason to be wrong this year.

So what? You think people should take your word as gospel? Get real.

Clearly you're just worried because Skaifey is back to his very best and is a red hot chance for this years title, and you know it. I want you to remember what you have said, billy, because come the end of the year, if Skaife wins the title you may have to dig into a nice steaming slice of humble pie, champ.
