The biggest concern, in my opinion, is grounding over the steps. However watching how the British GTs cope with it this weekend could prove to be interesting - and may potentially help with knowledge for the LMS event in August.

The British GT's didn't seem to suffer too much at the end of the day.
The teams were instructed that at all pitstops - all 4 wheels of the cars MUST be on the concrete section of the pit road (this is in effect the left hand lane - but not marked as such) Didn't seem to cause too many problems

That's something then, wasn't there so didn't see....from what you're saying, does this mean they only used the shallow edge of the step?

I am planning on going to donington and will be my first LMS race. Am wondering what the lines are usually like and chances of getting tickets on the Sat and Sun if I go get them at the gate. Also with accomadation in the region, is there plenty close by or not???
Thanks

I'd advise booking the travel Inn/lodge type places now for peace of mind and a very good deal, had mine booked for 2 months!

They're usually close to full on race day with fans/team personnel.

hmmm odd - I went to the LMS website, found Donington and clicked on race entries - it had 47 listed season entries (weather they were actually for Donington or not, I don't know), and didn't include any Audis.

Further more the LMS website said "we must bear in mind that Donington doesn't accept more than 42 cars" - I wonder which one is incorrect - LMS or Donington...?

Joest were expecting to race after Le Mans, as are RFH, Protran etc.

We've already seen numerous cars pull out of previous rounds.

I'd trust the LMES site, but I hope to see R10s too.

I just checked the Donington website ticket office

http://www.donington-park.co.uk/tick...p?event=060827

for prices, as I usually book in advance for a discount, but unusually, there seems to be no benefit booking early instead of paying on the door (20 quid for an adult Sunday ticket either way). In fact it's worse as you must pay for postage. Is this normal for Donington?

At least it's on the Donington site now - my wife's been trying to "surprise" me with some tickets for the last couple of months and getting increasingly irate at their site - and by extension the relative lack of forward promotion.

Donington is right by the airport so plenty of hotels there. If you go onto the Donington website itself they also list accommodation.

There will be no problem getting tickets on the gate and I'd guess the queues would be perfectly manageable too

Am I right in thinking there's a travelodge very close to East Midlands airport? Which in turn makes it very close indeed to Donington Park. I think it's at one of the roundabouts just before you reach the circuit... A453...? I'm trying to recall despite being at the BGT meeting only a week ago lol...

A new Donington website, same old crappy ticket booking system. We still can't book online!

So far I've pre-booked tickets with MSV and Silverstone and I have to say that MSV have by far and away the best system yet, a very prompt workman-like service. Silverstone was OK, but with my LMES tickets last year the morons in the ticket office sent me the wrong Timetable. Instead of the LMES schedule I got the one for the Silverstone Classic a few weeks before!

There's still quite a few hotels in the Donington area though what with the airport....got a great deal at a hotel 5 mins away for the 750MC meeting a few weeks back. Prob need to think about organising ours for the LMS though....

Found it quite quickly! http://www.whitehousehotels.com/pages/kegworth

I paid £20 something for a single room (was in a double) for one night with breakfast...

Thanks for the quick reply!

Something different now...
I wonder, does the LMS attract a lot of visitors in England? Just to know if I should order tickets in advance or not...

No problem.

Wouldn't have thought it'll be sold out...but may be proved wrong there! Last year, I only went to the Sunday (F3 was on too) and the race had been on the Saturday so missed it, but I was on an F3 season pass so was fine and wasn't there for the raceday!

I doubt it'll sell it out, I've never seen a massive crowd at an LMS race.
