Silverstone 24hours

This seems to be a fantastic race, as i thouroghly enjoyed Britcar at Donington last year. My question is that will we be likely to see some British GT entrants into this race, as i remember some British GT cars entered in the Donington britcar race?

I would suspect so, it would be quite a prestigious race to win and there have to be a few teams that are looking at it. Probably some of the Belcar teams taking an interest as well....

I would agree, I think there will be alot of teams with their eye on this as it's going to be the biggest thing outside of the Grand Prix.

We'll be doing it if we can find suitable drivers?

We've got an E36 M3, I think they're expecting 85 cars to start & hopefully we'll be one

chezza, you'll love it. Like any meeting it depends on what post you're on as to how busy you are, but you can't beat seeing the sun rise at 5am, then you realise there is still 12 hours of racing to go

I'm just annoyed that i'm not gonna be able to get there

85 cars...think I'll get the camera ready now for Copse 1st lap! That will take some marshalling as well for the grid!!

Will also be there with our E36 M3 in class 3.

Not sure if the full 85 will start together or as per Rennen 24h some kind of staggered start with multiple pace cars. Any race officials want to comment on the probable start ?

I'm interested how this event was squared with the residents in Silverstone village, given the current issues at Castle Combe. Perhaps there are lessons to be learnt?

As far as I know the cars will start all at once. There will be a 100+ cars to pratice with 85 starters.Plus support races form Ferrari challange,Dutch supercars,Bently owners club,Britsports and goldarts. We will have have BRit Gt teams running. No belcars have yet been given room.We are confident we will fill the grid with our own regestered entires.
The event has been made possible thanks to the efforts of the EERC,BRDC and BRSCC and Silverstone Parish Council.

Unfortunately due to the Vees & other 750 Formulas being @ Brands I shall miss this, but am making up for it by going to the Nurburgring 24 Hours in May

I'm very dissapointed to be unavailable due to holiday. it should be a great meeting, though, and long may it continue.

Im interested in doing this race 2 but im unaware of budgets. I know the budgets for nurburgring 24hrs, will they be simular here? Im looking to do it in either something like a Honda Civic type R, M3 or maybe a GT3 cup car if they are eligible! Anyone know the figures?

Go for it - if Robby Gordon can do it then so can you!
I'm thinking about making the trip across the channel to have a look at this race.

Hi jlittlejohn

The best person to talk to would be James at EERC on 01252 834 377. As a guide I would expect prices to range through (based on 4 drivers per car):
Fiesta ~1,500 to 2,500
Civic ~3,000 to 5,000
M3 ~5,000 to ~12,000 (there's a wide difference in spec between the M3's so I'd expect a wide range of prices)
GT3 possibly 15k (this is a guess as I've never enquired seriously about one)

The above are a guide, don't shout at me if they are way off. I've driven a fiesta and an M3 in the longer EERC races (also costed the Civic at one stage) so the above is based upon my experience...the quality of cars varies considerably and the prices will also depend on your level of experience and how likely you are to damage the car.

If you want more info pm me.

We're looking for suitable drivers in our E36 M3 if you're interested & our philosophy over pricing is simple, split all costs 4 ways, no profit, just competing will be enough payment

Could someone please tell me the date of this race? Because I'd like to see it. Never seen a 24hr race before, so if I don't make it to Le Mans this year then this'll be the next best thing (as well as LMES and FIA GT which I'm going to see). Bet the hotels will be packed, sure they'd do camping there, yeh? FIA GT's in May is, in actual fact, going to be my very first visit to Silverstone, so I know nowt at all about the circuit.

I'll have to check my dates if the Vee's are on at Brands as well-maybe I could do the Vee's as well and shoot up to Silverstone trouble is Chezza I'll probably be sleeping at that fine cheap place called Hotel Peugeot!
