CAMS losing regional training provider status?

http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/02/27/ba...rst-indian-gp/

Quote:
Feb.27 (PVM) Lack of professional motorsport infra-structure will not hamper the Indian Grand Prix as the organisers have secured a deal with Bahrain for the use of experienced marshals at the country’s inaugural F1 race at the Jaypee International Race Circuit near Delhi.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) president Vicky Chandhok announced, “We’ve reached an agreement with the Bahrain Motor Federation and 110 experienced marshals will be on duty during the Indian GP. In addition to that we will have 230 marshals from India to shadow the Bahraini officials.”
So first there was arguments over AGP and CAMS role, and now after getting Korean contract and probably not handling that the best, they have lost a role at the first Indian GP when the should have got it as the FIA regional training provider for Asia Pacific.

Thoughts on how CAMS could have lost this and flow-on affects to Australian events?

Hmmm

From everything that I heard the CAMS people did a really good job in Korea.

There is no mention anywhere in the linked article of Bahrain officials training the locals in India, just that Bahrain is supplying 100 or so marshals.

CAMS might well still be supplying training to the whole lot of them for all we know from this article.

On the other hand, if CAMS aren't supplying training, is that big a deal?

Mind you, given the huge number of overseas experts that haven't been paid for work they did at the Commonwealth Games, music tours that have gone into India and not been paid etc etc, maybe CAMS are taking a view of "once bitten, twice shy"?

Can't help wondering exactly how experienced and experienced Bahraini marshal is who's going to be passing on the wealth of his knowledge to the locals. I'd hazard a guess at not 20 years of 30+ days a year, which is probably normal for British and Aussies. But then the FIA think it's easy.

Hell if I was CAMS I wouldn't want the job anyway after the fiasco that was the Commonwealth Games! Not too mention they'll probably never get paid...

Do you mean the CAMS officials (a la Korea) or CAMS itself?

I think that we may need to recognise that "Regional Training Provider" role and who is contracted to supply a team of officials can be unrelated.

CAMS and the UK MSA are still the only two RTPs currently recognised.
