Why in 1996 did the WRC not go to Monte Carlo or RAC? :confused:

They where both part of the 2 litre Championship, but not the WRC, as there was a rotation system in those days.

Every rally worked on a 3 year rotation, 2 years in as counting for each championship, one year counting for the 2 Litre championship.
Not sure what year it was brought in, or why, 1993 maybe?. For example Finland & the Safari didn't count for the WRC in 1995, and in 1994 Australia didn't count. In 1997 though all rallies were admitted back in each year. |

Huh..That's bizarre. I guess it was less work for the teams and more emphasis on scoring points in every round.

I wouldn't mind seeing that rule brought back in. 9 or so rounds a year would allow drivers to compete in more events, like national championship rounds or so, how many A seeded drivers will be in the 2004 London-Sydney?
Also it allows more events World Championship status. |
