Lap Records for Endurance Racing
Question really to see what people think.
Does everyone else out there who races in endurance championships/series feel that there should be a separate lap record system for the cars racing? This may allow us endurance racers to gage how fast our endurance car chould go and how far on or off the pace we are. Times will be slower compared to sprint/10 mins racing because we are carrying a lot more weight (fuel) run different (endurance)pads, try not to bang over every curb to preseve the car and run on shagged tyres some of the time (on the longer races). |

That could potentially open a huge can of worms. Anyway, I thought lap records were applicable to championships? Take for example the recent day at Oulton Park, The 2CV championship would have a different lap record than the Star of the Midlands FFord.
Even when you have different classes in one race, each class has it's own lap record. I think that may answer your question, but if you are referring to instances where the same set of cars have a sprint race early and and endurance race later then you are back to the can of worms. |
