Who could forget the monsoon rain on the friday in 2008, that was a full on storm and IMO was a fair bit worse than 2005.

I don't think I went on the Friday in '08 - did it last for as long as the 2005 storm did? That had been going on for most of the day as well, lets not forget! (I couldn't forget anyway - got absolutely soaked after realising I'd left my mobile phone in my tent!)

Weather.com says that Friday will be partly cloudy, Sat will have rain and Sunday will be foggy in the morning, with temps about 60-65 deg F all weekend.

I would love if that would hang around for the afternoon, something like FIA GT race @ 2008. But I'm sure it'll be a great event, whatever the weather is.

Tickets arrived yesterday - time to get excited.

I will be tuning into RLM this year rather than relying on the tannoy system - can anyone tell me what the reception is usually like? Will a mobile phone radio reciever be adequate or should I take a seperate unit?

Never tried it on a mobile. But then I have a cheapy little radio from Tesco that does that job, and an RLM radio from a while back... One usually works!

Ah, yes. Friday 2008, practice.
It rained, I got wet.
But I did get this...

McNish was 4 whole seconds faster than anyone else that session!

The rain on Friday in 2008 was torrential, it was heavier and lasted longer than in 2005 IMO. I'm all set for tomorrow now, get there for the morning CER session, hear some BMW M1 music then the LMS cars come out to play.

With regards to the weather being foggy on the Sunday I hope so, because the atmosphere at the FIA GT 2008 was quite surreal, I enjoyed it. I just hope if the weather is like that it's a bit warmer and not as wet.

On a mobile you normally only have FM, right? I thought Silverstone has only AM radio?!?

87.7FM usually. Or at least, when it's available. Otherwise it goes to some MW frequency, 1602MW, which is what the 1000km will be broadcast on.

MihokS5 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hey guys is there anything going on at the track yet? I'm not sure what the schedule is for this week/weekend but I figured someone would have some paddock pics or something by now

On-track action starts tomorrow at 1 with free practice.

I´ve been looking for first photos on various sites but there seems to be nothing yet.

Mansell Sr. has not been given green light by the doctors to race this weekend, so this race will be again up to his two sons in the #5 Ginetta-Zytek.

I just wonder how much he whinged before not being given the medical clearance, considering it's 3 months since his crash at Le Mans... but then again, he's an old man nowadays, he's 57, so a crash like that could have long-lasting consequences.
