The ACO List & Those Not Chosen

Interesting notes that I thought might be a challenge for us to look at and try:

Of the 77 original entries announced by the ACO back in January, and the way the list came out last week, here are some figures to consider:

Of the original 77 entries:

27 were LMP1s:

19 were selected on the "1st List (with Arena)" with two reserves for a total of "21" LMP1s accounted for publicly....

- Since we know for sure that AutoCon entered but was not chosen
that leaves Five cars not known to us...

13 entries were LMP2s:

7 were chosen and no reserves...leaving 6 unknown entries

14 GTS entries:

10 were chosen and one was a reserve for "11" cars...and 3 unknowns

23 entries were GT class:

14 were chosen with 3 reserves for "17"..and 6 unknown

Now:

Your thoughts on the "unknown" teams or names.....

We should be able to fill in these blanks pretty closely....

In LMP2, WR must have entered a second car, under Monsieur Welters name (the accepted one is in Rachel Welters name).
I have seen it suggested that 2 Rand-Lolas (Nissan engined) were also entered.

In GTS, at least 2 of the missing 3 could be Saleens, 1 Konrad, 1 Graham Nash.

LMP1 : 1 C60 Courage, 1 C60 Saturn, two Durangos, 1 Intersport R&S...
LMP2 : 1 Jota Zytech, 1 WR, 1 PiR Pilbeam, 1 Bucknum Pilbeam, 1 Rand Zytech, 1 Dyson MG
GTS : 1 Graham Nash Saleen, 2 Konrad Saleens
GT : 1 911 Team Essex, 1 911 Bernard Jubin, 1 TVR, 1 911 Orbit...

Doh ! I give up...

Notice that KA precises in another thread that there's very few chances that Intersport tried to enter an R&S. And Dyson had an automatic entry in LMP2... so I'm already wrong on those two ones...

Slightly wrong there tim

GTS had no reserves, the XL 550 is in fact a GT car, not a GTS.

It does seem odd given that GTS is a small field that there are no reserves for the class, although that is a different thread....

I agree mostly with 19 dodges predictions, but then again I'm only really sure on the LMP's and GTS's, don't really know enough about the GT teams...

There was a Ferrari 550 listed on the reserve list when I checked the ACO site this morning....can't remember the team...so there is one GTS reserve in the bunch....

So far the guesses have been good ones....

I haven't really done my close look yet to see where mine would fall....

But at a brief glance, I think if you add "Bucknum Pilbeam" to the LMP2 list that "19dodge" posted above, that would be a pretty solid look at the LMP2 entries....

I might guess that American Spirit placed an LMP2 entry, but I doubt they had the budget to do it, and which car would you enter of the two???? and how much friction would that cause internally????

In LMP1, I have no idea where (or if) Durango was part of the mix...

Last year, they vanished after Donnington, and we never did see hide nor hair of the 2nd car they were building....

From other posts, their Team Manager and another member are allegedly involved with the "Yacht Club Dallara"....and Durango has been very quiet since last August....

I know that it was their "plan" to return and to enter two cars, but it also was their "plan" to run in the LM1000K last November with the two cars....

There was plenty of space for them in the field....unless they didn't get their entry filed on time or didn't fill it out right...

Ok I have been thinking about this one, so here goes:-

LMP1:- Creation, C60 Saturn, Edouard Sezionale (Norma), Durango x2, Goddard
LMP2:- 1 WR, Pilbeam, Rand x2, Luchinni, Debora
GTS:- RML, Konrad x2, Graham Nash
GT:- Nielsen, T2 Motorsport, PK Sport, Team Taisan Advan, Scuderia Ecosse, Almeras

I think LMP1/2 and GTS are pretty much right, but I have just been looking at my possible entries and there are loads of candiates for GT.

Got one too many LMP1's....there are five unknown slots and you have six cars listed....Beyond what was "publicly" listed as the LMPs invited (19) or reserves (2), we knew of AutoCon not being invited.

I think remaining LMP1 list was:

1. Factory Courage C60 (even though they are focusing on C65, it is their home track, and Fab had mentioned in the "Entry" thread that they would have entered an LMP1...thus this choice)

2. Creation Zytek
3. Durango (1 car - they would try to come back)
4. Goddard (1 car)
5. A Norma entry...but not Team Sezio....we had heard about another Norma to possibly run LMES or run Le Mans...but I thought Sezio had dropped of the radar screen as an active race team

LMP2:

1. WR
2. PiR Pilbeam
3. Bucknum Pilbeam
4. Rand Lola
5. Rand Lola
6. Debora

GTS:

I think the lists of Saleens above (Konrad, Nash & RML) fit those four "others" not going in June....

GT will take a lot more study...

Goddard did enter 2 Reynards, im 100% sure, it was on DSC. I dont believe Norma entered any cars. I think the factory courage entry transfered into the factory C65 entry. i dont think the factory courage team entered 3 cars!

durango- could be 1 or 2, who knows...
maybe the saturn courage?

the LMP2 lst looks pefect to me. GTS also..

Thanks, 19dodge:

So the LMP1 was possibly:

1. Goddard Reynard
2. Goddard Reynard
3. Creation Zytek
4. Saturn Courage C60
5. Durango

Anyone else have a thought on who might be in the last two slots in this class besides Saturn or Durango?

The first three seem to be showing up on everyone's list....

Alex Job had a guaranteed entry which they are not taking up. That's one or maybe 2 GT cars. Racers Group probably tried for two entries (they have 3 cars). Orbit is running as BAM! and they are going. Orbit is only a Grand Am effort in 2004.

the spykers were not entered because over the 3 year period, the company did not produce 25 road cars, so the car isnt legal in ACO trim anymore.

Alex Job did not take up the entries, so they wouldnt have entered any cars! lol

Im not so sure on the durango for LMP1, as if the rumors are right about the other Dallara, then some of the high up memebers of that team were fairly important to the operation. However i suppose it doesn't stop themre-entering i suppose, especially after the good press they recived last year....
I doubt very much if Rollcentre would (could?) want to run their second car atm, so i don't think that was entered.

My reckoning for lmp1 is

1 Autocon Riley
2 Courage C60 (not sure what team)
3 Goddard Reynard
4 Goddard Reynard
5 Creation Zytek
6 Durango

GTS
(all Saleens)
1 Konrad
2 Konrad
3 Graham Nash
4 RML

Don't know enough about LMP2 and GT to be able to guess at who applied for entries.

Rollcentre didn't submit 2 entries.

I'm intrigued on the Nielsen/DBA thing. In theory, the DBA Zytek had an auto-entry for this year (from 2003 result). I wonder if Jon thought he could "take" that to a Porsche (no idea if he submitted an entry or not) or whether that's why the Zytek factory team secured an entry.

Creation should have gone to Sebring (although I think it would have killed the car).

A quick note to say that Yves Courage did NOT enter a C60 this year, so scratch that off any lists for LMP1. (source : interview on dailysportscar.com)
