5th LMS race

Where would you guys have held the 5th LMS race?
Has to be Zandvoort for me... seeying the LMP's roaring through Scheivlak although, Brands Hatch GP loop would do nicely as well.

Monza..... :P

Jarama would seem to be a bit small, but I guess they were limited with the amount of vaguely suitable circuits available at that time of the season for a 1000k race. Brands GP has its days used up, how about a second race at Spa?

Le Mans Bugatti would have been my choice; great central location and obviously good facilities.

me personally i would have chosen silverstone like last year and in 2004, it's one of my favorite tracks and it was amazing watching the zytek's go through bridge corner at full throttle slicing past the porsche's and ferrari 360's, i think catalunya race track would be a great track for this kind of racing or maybe they should have done the last race round at circuit bugatti but that would give pescarolo the advantage because that is their headquarters and were they developed the car but for me it would be silverstone again just hope it doesnt rain like 2005

I'll ignore the old Nurburgring and a suggestion of 1000miles round Italy to retain a realistic approach.
So Monza would be my first choice too.
I'll rule out Brands and Silvestone to keep it at only one British race (after there are only five, so to have two is a little greedy).
Going off on a tangent I think Suzuka would be good!

Are we talking realistically or whatever we'd prefer?

'cos I'd naturally choose Cadwell Park - not just because it's picturesque, but also 'cos it's barely 20 mins down the road lol... well, I'm sure it would get better promotion and support than Silverstone would ever bother to give!! I can imagine the carnage at The Mountain already...

Back to realism, and I'd say Assen, or somewhere like Mugello, Dijon or even Imola - somewhere in the middle of central Europe, where the larger support is (which is why I say Assen mainly). LMS needs to think about crowd sizes, too. I also think they should ditch Istanbul for another European event - just until the crowd sizes and the series status grows.

Assen or Brno....

Third pick would've been Barcelona if Spain was the destination

When Monza was originally cancelled back in March, I did a little research on whaich circuits had dates available in September.

Here is what I found out:

I checked some circuit websites for calendars and found out the following:

Only Estoril has the same weekend that Monza was scheduled available....they have most of their September dates available, but do not in October.

Brno and Barcelona both have the same weekend as Petit Le Mans available

Brno also has Sept 7-10

Barcelona has the weekends of October 14-16 and Oct. 21-23 open, in addition to the Petit weekend (Sept. 30-Oct.2)...all of September is booked for testing dates for cars or bikes.

Assen has Sept. 15-17 open

Zandvoort has no September dates open

I didn't look at Jarama or Anderstorp, because I did not think that they would be as good as potential options as those listed above...

I had a secondary list that was not nearly as good as those listed above...

basically the SRO/ACO managed to miss out some very good tracks for these kinds of cars and chose jarama which to me is completely new because i have never heard of the track but from what i heard jarama is not a necessarily good track for these cars, i think after watching the FIA GT at brno at the weekend it would be a good track for the LMS and a well driven LMP2 car would probably beat most of the LMP1's if not all of them to take the race win at brno were at catalunya the pescarolo would have a distict speed advantage with its blistering staright line speed but we will have to see how jarama fairs with this kind of race

Jarama is a superb track but certainly its paddock and stands are old. I would have chosen Jerez de la Frontera, it´s a first level track and a LMS race would be a good anniversary gift (WSC 1986-LMS 2006).

Jarama's main claim to fame is that it was a home to the F1 Spanish Grand Prix. It hosted the race in even years from 1968-74 (trading off with Montjuich Park). After a serious accident on the Barcelona street circuit in 1975, Jarama took the Grand Prix and held it from 1976-81. The circuit all hosted WSC rounds from 1987-89.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know how things are progressing on the full circuit at the Gotland Ring. Once it opens, this circuit should definitely be a possible venue for sportscar races (full circuit measuring 4.039-miles when complete).

IMO, Jerez is a better bike track than it is for sportscars...the straights don't seem to be very long there.

Just my impression of the venue...

Funny, European Le Mans Series. "And the winner is: Audi Sport
North America
"

Assen would have been great, but indeed I liked the Bugatti edition as well.

So Jarama it is for September..

Any reason why Paul Ricard wasn't used? I thought it would be most logical in the short circumstances.

Why not Zolder? (Belgium's second circuit)
Allright, it is'nt so big the circuit, but it has been used by FIA GT 2 time's.
Would be great for al those Belgium's race fans, a lot more then in Istanbul.

2 LMS races in Belgium, not a chance.

Not sure Jarama will be good, but I'll be heading south anyways.

Look at that, the dutch people are back. Hope you are to disapointed from sunday.
No, 2 races in Belgium isnt good, why not a dutch race? RfH and Spyker are dutch, some other drivers too. I visited Rizla Racing days last year, many spectators without any realy big race event ....
