For that particular example, isn’t the metaphor, it your cards are on fire it is impossible to play cards?

Another report said it was the 17 SMP Dallara that stopped on track, not the CLM.

What is this, the middle ages? We have opening sessions of the season for world championship of sportscars, but we don't/can't know what's happening meanwhile, Creventic and some club events are getting full coverage

No - 2:00.132 in Free Practice 1 is their best

1:58.2 by Dillman in qualifying isn't too bad imo. He did another 1:58 right afterwards too. I think the drivers could be better though because he was the second guy to get in and the first guy only did a 1:59.1

Posting a time may not be the Kolles's biggest headache. Six hours is a quarter of a day.

Boring steady run is what you want from a project like this, especially this season where it seems to be about survival. Maybe if they have second entry by Silverstone they can start experimenting other things and dedicate boring steady car for payrivers and the other for more speedy risky things (like the first lap attacking at LM last year)
Meanwhile this weekend they've not only been far less embarrassing than some other entries on the grid but also even received couole of seconds of ACO air time in quali |

They were able to battle the SMP Dallaras at various stages of the race (pretty condition- and driver-dependent, still very encouraging though).
Even though it took over 3 seasons, through perseverence they've basically turned a joke into a respectable effort. And that is to be admired. Fingers crossed that they have a good steady run to the finish at Le Mans. |

Due to the special circumstances around the team, the final result wasn't that bad. Still far from impressing.

Boring but not bad. Decent pace, no huge problems. Good dress rehearsal for Le Mans.

Let’s see if this practice pays off at Le Mans, otherwise it could be goodbye to any credibility

That probably wasn't a high-downforce kit. It's new but they were too far off in sector 2. I think the drivers are leaving some performance on the table too. Not to say they aren't qualified, but they aren't at the level of some of the others like Kobayashi, Lotterer, Buemi etc. The top speed was ~316kmh which is less than a kmh slower than the Rebellion, so it's not that far off. I think the SMP was on the extreme side of low-downforce, that 328kmh is flying at Spa.

They don't really need speed at LM, but reliability AND eliminating stupid recurring mistakes like the clumsy pitwork.
In any case, after the exclusion of the Swiss, 4th place overall is the best they've ever gotten right? And managed to hold of SMP... this is the best race they ever did. I mean that may not sound much but even compared to just year ago it's a huge improvement. |
