ALMS Season 2004 vs. 2005
Through 3 races in the 2005 season of the ALMS series, which year do you find to have been the most competitive: 2004 or 2005?

2005, same sort of grid numbers sure but the playing field seems to be much more even than last year across all the classes IMO.

Also voted 2005, Mid_Ohio and Sebring did make the difference for me.

seems to be a clear result so far
2005 is not a big step forward in numbers (as I remember) but a big one in competition |

2005-The Dyson Lolas are close to or ahead of the Audis, and are showing improved reliability, the Corvettes are being chased somewhat by the ACEMCO Saleen and the Pacific Corvette, and Panoz has beaten the Porsche GT3.

Hopefully some of these new cars coming through will boost the grids a little bit? It has grids of similar size to FIA GT, but has prototypes as well as GT's - doesn't make for quite the same battles all the way through a class - indeed surely LMP2 would be better if there was an on-track battle for victory rather than just whoever made the most distance into the race.
Having said that, from what I've heard, there does seem to be some excellent racing going on (whilst cars are on the black bits)... Because the Audi is no longer almost certain for the wins anymore, it's making the whole lot more exciting. |
