So, we have three blokes in a paddock and a broken car in a paddock. The three blokes are Iain, Dave (Rich) and Dave.

As a result of a spin, Iain was collected in his race, hence the slightly second hand racing car..... Subsequent to this, Iain went sightseeing.

Fair point. I ran last couple of seasons with genuine Lenham front end but the drawback is that the nose is so long that it only opens to about 30 degrees and you cant even do under bonnet checks without being a contortionist. The new front is actually an Ashley GT Mk 1 made by Honeybournes and is far more practical. I've compromised with an old frogeye grille with the MG badge in the centre. Maybe it's as near as I'll get to a true 'Spridget'?
On to the racing. Had a bit of an issue with CMRC as they want paperwork for the car; no HTP as never homologated in period, and we don't do 'logbooks' in the UK for track cars, only rally cars (don't ask me why!). Luckily this is a dual permit meeting with VCC who have their own set of rules (less stringent) and made me welcome. Full safety scrutineer and no problems. Joined online, filled in a paper entry form and was on track within an hour. Missed free practice so first sight of the circuit was qualifying, eeeek!
Good mixed bunch of fifties and sixties cars from Jaguar engined single seat special to a standard looking Daimler Dart, via Lotus Elite and four of the 18 remaining Mistrals. Yes a new one to me, interesting story - look them up. Came in around mid-pack, and that's how the first two races went. Last race today heavens opened just before we went out, challenging to say the least. Finished 5th behind the well-driven Elite. Have to confess half the field stayed in the paddock when they saw the conditions. Had a lot of fun and managed not to thow it off despite not seeing much through the spray and fogged screen. Tomorrow supposed to be fine for last two races, let's hope so but the weather here changes in an instant.

FWIW David I looked up the Teretonga meeting for next weekend (ISTR Iain saying tht was the next stop) and again that looks like a dual permit with SSCC (Southern Sports Car Club) and VCC both having their own entry link so you should not have issues there.
Links also on the page linked below for entries plus both MSNZ supp. regs and VCC supp. regs for the meeting.

Meeting website with those links: http://www.teretonga.org.nz/event/st...peedfest-2023/

Dont worry about the link saying 2023... it directs to 2024 as below

So is that fixable on the road? Or does it need stuff flying out from the UK?

Unfortunately as we are only a small club running this event we can not afford to pay for it to be live streamed.
Looking for a sponsor to help fund it for next year.

Paul
Hopefully there might be some 'fan / onboard footage show up on youtube in the near future.

Did find a walkaround of the paddock of the Skope Classic meeting last weekend where Ian drove the Titan FF. Sadly the walkaround was from a touring car perspective so 'no one we know' but it shows a variety of interesting cars and you can get the feel of the meeting. 20 minutes.

https://youtu.be/FxyctqbJfbE

There are a few more videos up from the meeting. Just go to youtube and search "2024 skope classic ruatonga" and you will get a few onboards and stuff. Again mainly touring cars at this stage.
Or click this link:https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...ssic+ruatonga+

The first one up is a full replay of the Saturday live stream.

Not sure if the lack of news from those on the ground in NZ from Sunday is a good or bad sign..... dont even know if Iains damage was fixable short term.

Sorry for radio silence . I am feeling bit better today and will have a go at repairing the 22. Lot to do as need to sort oil leak which I suspect rear main. Gearbox off , flywheel and sump . Then look at the front rad oil cooler and oil tank . There were no leaks so just make sure all the pipes are good and have a go. Probably miss practice but Teratonger I can remember having had some good races there in 2019. Will report in at weekend . ?

It's a shame as it is of course possible to live stream for a phone these days and both of my main camcorders can stream live and one to professional standards to my YouTube Channel, however it would only really be from one position for the actual races. If I was there I would wander about and have a chat to a few of the drivers as well
