New Rallycross Entries

We've got a thread about those leaving the sport so I thought I'd start one about those who are either entering the sport or building new cars. So who and what?

Terry Moore - sold his modified mini, replaced with a Puma (I think that's right)
Trevor Stretch - was rumoured to be building a modified RX8, has anyone heard anything about this?
Grant Rees - Was building a modified Civic, any progress?

There have also been rumours of another Clio or 2 in the modifieds (can't remember names).

Does anybody know any more?

Well, over here we have:

Joe Dempsey (brother to david dempsey) building a 1600 Nova (so the irish modified class should be renamed to the nova challenge next year :P )

David Dempsey has built a fiberglass 1600 Nova

Mick Coyne with his new dave bellerby nova

Myself with a newer model Corsa and polo towards the start of next year.

Eugene cahill's puma will make a splash at the start of 2005

The morris brothers are pondering a 3rd subaru for hire

Nesbitt is roumered to go into irish rallycross (this was long before brands was announced).

Theres another guy comming into modified with a twin cam corolla.

Derek tohill was talking about moving upto modified at the start of the year.

Julian Godfrey was pondering Modified also.

There was roumers of john mc cluskey buying a 206 but they seemed to be just roumers, however if john eventualy sells the 306 id say a 206 is quiet likely.

Thats all i can remember at the moment, im sure the rest of the irish gang can fill in some blanks

Frank O'Connell who has campaigned Mini's for many years is in the final stages of building a Clio and hopes to have it out soon. The engine was built by the people who built the touring car engines for Renault a few years back.

I had heard John McCluskey had a 206 shell and was getting an engine built but was waiting until regulations were finalised. He was going to keep the 306 and run a 2 car team.

Heard a rumour that a Ford driver had put in a strong bid for the French Champs Citroen at Croft and was going to continue with discussions.

And we have Chris Evans returning with the Astra

Seems the irish championship will be sparse next year, surprisingly low entry for the last few events this year which isnt normal.

Then again theres alot more wrogn to the irish championship than is let on to belive.

rxie I think the biggest mistake in Irish Rallycross was changing it to a Jan to Dec championship rather than the winter c/ship we have gotten used to. The 3 month lay off during the summer is a joke.
The second biggest problem is COC's stating at drivers briefing that they are going to be tough with bad driving and guys who weave off the start line.
Its time to get tough or it will fall flat on its face in the next year or so

There's alot going on at present, can't say to much as Ive been told in confidence, all I can say is there are some new Div 1, cars being built at present and a certain French car has been bought, and thats just from the top end of the sport, could well be in for a very interesting 2005.

any chance of a bit of info ?
Is the car complete, less engine etc and of course how much for the ex Mr Moore car.
I miss my Grassing days and quite fancy a class 4 pickup for the right money.
Matt Roach is having one built.

Sorry to dissapoint you all....
Im not involved with the RSS I just have been to every rallycross event this year, talked to people, kept my ear to the ground..... etc etc.....
90% of the things I wrote about drivers and cars was common knowledge this year anyway!!

Don't remember Richardson driving a Ford. My guess is John Haffy.

I wouldnt say john would be making an appearence anytime soon, he hasnt invoked any interest in rallycross for a while, infact the last time i saw him out was when dermot carnegie did flying lessons in the focus in 2001?

The driver I'm talking about is from the mainland, was in the middle of building a car but new rules with weights mean his new motor isnt feasible so he threw in a bid on the french motor. He was one of 7 people to bid on it from what I was told
