There seem to be three main methods.

1.Self Employment.
2.Ken Dodd syndrome.
3.Working in F1 or some connection to high level Mo-sport.

Jesting aside, If you talk to those guys in that class, you find their money has not grown on trees, but has come from many years of hard graft. Even the cars that sport some advertising, often the vast majority of the bottom line of the cost has come out of their own pocket.

Very true BC.....
I heard that a new Gould with engine costs in the region of £140,000.............
Even the likes of Rob Turnbull has to do a bit of legwork and find a few sponsors.........
The only exeption I suppose is good old Tony Marsh.......
Who we all know must be minted..............lol

many seem to me to be longstanding competitors, so have 'spent' moderatly large sums each year, selling previous cars and upgrading etc, rather than stumping £140k in one go. Tony Marsh's Gould probably works out at £2k/annum due to his incredibly long race career lol

All the open class drivers have shares in cake and pie companies.. All they have to do is invite the marshals out and they instantly earn money. it's genius! the more races they have the more they earn! they try not to crash because then the marshals stop eating.

There's a certain irony in a competitor's having an interest in pork pie production....................

Pork pies don't work anymore PB. You'll have to speak to Woolley, who will explain, as he did to me.

Wouldn't a pushbike be more practical though?

Chicken and egg, surely?

You NEED a Gould to deliver enough Express and Stars to RUN a Gould...
