Plum Pudding Meeting

Just when you thought you had heard the last of the well known cry of the Chief Marshal "Volunteers Wanted"!!

BARC Midlands Centre are running the car side of the Plum Pudding Meeting at Mallory Park on Boxing Day.
So if you fancy working off your Christmas dinner and getting away from the family for a while, come and join us at Mallory.

If you want to help out please PM me or contact The Officials Secretary at BARC HQ Thruxton.

Hope to see some of you there,

Fred

In Leicestershire, not far from Hinckley. About 90 miles for you.

The Plum Pudding is a great meeting; I can't think of a better way of spending Boxing Day!

Last year it was Monopostos & Caterhams, two solo bike classes & sidecars. The two car classes & the sidecars got two races each, the solo bike classes each had three races. I would think this year will be similar.

If anyone needs directions, just ask, my house is within 5 minutes of the circuit & I've already volunteered.

You think correctly Dave!

This year we are having Caterhams and Open Single Seaters to 2500cc (assuming we ever get any entries of course!). The bikes will be the same as last year.

Hope to see as many of you as possible for what is a great fun day out.

I haven't done the meeting for a few years now. But it always used to be fun with some of the riders dressing up as Father Christmas, Fairies, etc. Some of the female passengers (on the sidecars) used to go out in stockings and suspenders, although not practical, especially if you came off. (Oh dear, Alan will be wanting to go again now and we can't this year). All of us marshals used to be there in thermals, jumpers, etc and thought they were mad.

The bike marshals are normally friendly and you may find that you want to do more bike meetings in the future, as the action can be non-stop.

I put pleading messages on Ten-Tenths, write letters, send emails and make phone calls. But a lot of the marshals volunteer on on the forms sent out by HQ at the beginning of the year.

The plum pudding meeting may not be the biggest meeting of the year, altough there is a great ambiance and the action is non stop, but it is something like a once in a lifetime experience. Marshalling on boxing day in the cold and riders in funny outfits is something to tell your grandchildren .
I can't marshal any more due to artritis but I have done the meeting twice (98 and 99). Mind you I am from belgium and the trip is 350 miles for a single journey, a 700miles in total for one day, not included the time for the channel crossing. The mighty Mallory breakfast is lunch for me by the time a get to the circuit. by the way : the food is very good at the circuit.
I don't want to insult people , but if i can get to the meeting, so can some of you.
It is a great track and a good time to get a taste of bikes racing and to get to know some bikemarshalls.
have fun on boxing day and safety first

Well, not exactly Asp! Because of the fast approaching festive season, we ladies have much to do and baking mince pies is not high on our "things to do before the Plum Pudding Meeting" list! However, BARC Midlands' Madam Secretary (Noreen Ward) is about to go on a mammoth shopping trip I understand. I believe she has consulted "Which Mince Pie" magazine and, knowing Noreen, she will only purchase the finest quality for your delectation on Boxind Day!

Not going to be marshalling this one, but might try and drag my folks out to watch. Is there usually any problems getting tickets on the gate??

I shouldn't think so, but get there early to avoid the queues. £10 each to get in, accompanied children under 16 free.
