Slowcoach should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Well I have entered and the CTCRC are certainly putting on a BBQ for members on the Saturday night, although there may not be reserves as last year BH always gets pretty healthy grids and 35,000 spectators over the 2 days means that for once they'll be more people around the outside of the track than on the inside ! Which race/car are you in zefarelly ?

The Citroen BX will be back in Classic Thunder after missing Cadwell. Will come down Saturday depending on weather or if they move the race.

I didn't volunteer to marshal this but will be there with a few mates spectating on the Sunday. Not sure how I'll cope being the wrong side of the fence as this will be the first time I've spectated at a meeting since I started marshalling in 1987. May have to take a Strait jacket! Hope to see you there.

apguy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Well my weekend continued with the same theme as usual - a DNS on the timesheet...

Engine came back at 3.30pm on Thursday, in and running by 5.30pm on Thur. Up to the rolling road 9.00am Friday. Everything looking good.
Sat morning was spent cleaning, fuel, oil checks etc. Plus I replaced a leaky driveshaft oil seal. Packed up and trundled to Brands.
Sun morning, flew throught scrutineering and sat around waiting for Qual. Engine warmed up, good pressures and temps on the gauges. Sat in the holding area. Waved green flags and we trundled down the pitlane. Floored it in 2nd to get onto the circuit and....

....putt, putt, putt. Only firing on 3 cylinders. Meandered around determined to get 1 timed lap. Pulled in and towed back to the paddock.

5 minutes later the problem was found - blown headgasket. Mayhem then ensued. 45 minutes later the head was off. Cylinders 1+2 full of water and a big hole in the gasket between 1+2. Measured head and found a small warp in the area on the cylinder head. Decision made to fit a new gasket and try it - if it lasted for 14 laps then fine.
I am extremely grateful to Steve Cripps and Chris Bray who very kindly provided a CVH gasket, oil filter and sone fresh Valvoline.
Another 45 minutes later we had the head back on and the cam timed up. Unfortunately 1 prod of the started and the head gasket blew again This afternoon I will yet agin be pulling the head - this time for a skim.

I got there, signed on, sailed through scrutineering, went out to qualify, as soon as I got to 3rd gear the clutch slipped . . . .so I backed off and got a good 3 laps in (8 actually but I wasnt counting at first !!!) and limped home to the paddock.

We Q 14th though out of 17 with a 1:07, slackenend off the adjuster on the clutch and crossed our fingers . . . .

got a good start, sliced through a MK2 Jag and Toyota Corona on the run up to Druids . . .then picked off a few minis, with an A40 glued to my boot . . .a very sideways A40 most of the time, and on 2 or 3 wheels !

Lap 7 . . . .druids, couldnt get 2nd gear . . . .back into 3rd, down Graham Hill, round Graham Hill bend and 'sniff sniff' the car filled with smoke . . . . .totally overcooked clutch, I couldnt breath so I had to stop.

the friction plate is black as the ace of spades, flywheel and cover cleaned up ok fortunately, bloody annoying though as I didnt get a signature and I was running 9th overall and 3rd in class

Slowcoach should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Commiserations guys , my weekend also went true to form - i.e something ridiculous going wrong stopping me from practising! sailed thru scrut. went to assembly area, got the GO whistle put my belts on and....first 2 straps in the hole then the mechanism jammed couldnt get the others in and couldnt get those 2 out, in the end had to get a marshall to pull the pins and release the straps from the bolts in the floor to get out....mechanism inside had stripped. Now I maybe unlucky but I'm not stupid no way it could be repaired luckily my friend was there in my old car and I knew he had a spare set at home so I drove to his place and 2 hours later we were ready to roll....so 4th race running I am plum back of the grid, and when there's 29 cars in front of you that's daunting when the first bend is paddock, especially as my lap from last year would have put me in 5th on the grid....so my target for the race was to catch my mate who qualified 18th. Got a couple of rows on the start before the pack closed up completely but had great fun hunting him down and passing him by right in front of his box and 30 of his (our) friends/family after about 8 laps, when the red flags came out I had progressed upto 14th !! Shame that we stopped 3 laps short as I'm sure I had a chance at single figures but what the hell I had a great time in the end !!!

sounds like you got a good run then slowcoach

I thoroughly enjoyed what I got of my race, the first time Ive had someone evenly matched to race with. although the guy I was racing with caused a red flag on the last lap by flipping his A40 at Paddock Hill . . . .I'd rather my clutch went than be smashed out and up by that !
