British Hillclimb ATOL-Judd T95

I went to Wiscombe Park yesterday for the British Hillclimb championship rounds, and wondered if anyone knew the history of Martin Groves' ATOL-Judd T95? I heard it was converted in 1995 (hence the name), but what year's Lola was it based on? The '95 one? I thought it reminded me more of the '91/'92 cars, but only got a few fleeting glimpses as it sped by! Also, anyone know who used to drive it in F3000? A bit trainspottery I know

Any info on the past drivers of the various F3 cars entered welcomed too, also the 1970 Lotus 70 Formula A/5000 of Richard Drewett.

Hope this is the right forum, maybe racing history would be better, oh well...

Anyway, a great day out, if you haven't been to a British Hillclimb round - GO!

Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot, since watched my camcorder stuff and it sure looks a lot like a T91/50. Definitely not a '95 Lola, I was thrown by the ATOL's T95 name...

Atol Judd

The Atol Judd first appeared on the British Sprint scene in about 95 - 96. The car is based on a Lola T91 but I believe that Gould Engineering may had done some consultancy on it (Not 100% sure on that). The tub was shortened in the thought that it would make it more tolerant to Hillclimbing and Sprinting. The car originally was owned by Keith Harris who ran a packaging company called ATOL, hence the name. The car was shared for a couple of seasons with Amanda Furby. They, along with the car dissappeared untill Roger Moran bought it a couple of years ago. Now Martin Groves drives it with his usual spectacular style.

The guy's name is Keith Walker and not Harris. He still owns it having only lent it to Roger and Martin. It is presently in Dave Whitehead's unit being rebuilt.

Cor Blimey, talk about a blast from the past.

Welcome to Ten-Tenths Badboy5.

A fellow hillclimb and sprint fan I presume!? Great, we need more of you.

Thanks for the correction on Keith's surname. My memory let me down (again!).

Slack James

If my memory serves it was James Slack who did most of the work on the Lola. Keith Walker and Amanda Furby both drove the car in sprints and hillclimbs but it wasn't very successful. It was parked up at one Aintree sprint next to John Garnett's similar car and the difference in wheelbase and track were instantly obvious.

Finally I remember one HSA Curborough sprint when Andy Priaulx drove the car. As he got out after his first practice run he was as white as a sheet!
