Albers v Doornbos
More than a few people have commented on what a good season Albers has had, he has done ok in my opinion, not many people seem to be saying much about Doornbos, he arrived late on in the season, took a couple of races to settle in, and as far as i can see he is now getting on top of Albers, practice times from Brazil seem to add weight to the argument, just wanted to say well done RD, what chance a drive for him in the Red Bull Minardi next year, they could do a whole lot worse.

I've always rated Robert higher as Christijan, nicer guy as well and he used to live near Antwerp!
In fact, his parents still live there! So he's Belgian in my book! I hope Robert gets the chance at a better team in the near future.. |

I always thought he was Dutch, like Goldmember, but if he's Belgian, I guess that makes him more like Dr. Evil. Either way he deserves kudos for his drives this year.

He's Dutch, but he never had a "schmelting acshident", yezsh? I've never seen a Belgian with a Rotterdam accent anyway...
I too rate RD higher than CA. He seems to have more raw talent (being a pro race driver for such a short time, while CA has worked hard since his youth to get where he is) and I think he has more brains, which is never a bad thing for a driver. I think RD has yet to show what he can really do. |

No, he's not Belgian officially, but just like Verstappen he used to live here...

I don't think we've seen the best of Doornbos yet. Results so far suggest that Albers is doing the better job by consistently beating Doornbos in both qualifying and race (with a couple of exceptions). However, Albers has been in since the start of the season.

I must admit that I've been rather impressed with Albers performance(s) this year - his qualifying in the Canadian GP springs to mind. But since Doornboss has entered the picture and settled down to a degree, you could say that he's upstaged Albers.
It's a real shame that a lot of drivers in F1 don't get a chance to display their 'true potential' by having the chance to race in a competetive car... Having said that, Raikkonen, Trulli, Alonso, Webber, Schumacher(s), etc. all started off in uncompetetive cars and were able to impress. |

You don't need a competitive car to impress - you just need to drive towards the percieved limits of a car and not get into too many incidents. Of all the current F1 drivers only JPM, JV and DC went straight into teams which won races that year, but others have managed to rise to the top.
Both Albers and Doornbos have showed enough potential to deserve another season, but the sale of Minardi means that it will probably be back to them fighting for the same sponsors and the same drives. Albers has been linked to Midland already, and they know Doornbos more closely and have seen how competitive his laps are, so it could be that they don't really rate Robert. |

Well done! |

Albers is just too much bla bla at the moment he is over-hyped in Holland. I hope Robert stays the same as he is now and if he get's a decent car he will show that his results in F3000 were no fluke and that he deserves to stay in F1.

Not a good weekend for Robert in Brazil.
All the best for Suzuka, where he flew on the water (remember the hurricane?) last year in his Jordan. |
