After a fall Dave had some injuries that were quite serious to start with. Looks like he is recovering well although I think it will be slower than he would like. I think his target is to get out of hospital today but not sure the doctors agree. Think it will need Elaine to make sure common sense prevails - if she has the energy after being there for him constantly and facing a new job as nurse for a while. ( maybe she has always been nursing him )

The 360 sure missed you last weekend.
Great race but missing one important friend of the event. Please continue to get well. |

Thank you all for your kind words, I was released from the Leicester Royal Infirmery on Saturday night and this is my first chance to be in contact with the 'Real World'.
So what happened? I had a great day at Mcleans with the MGCC, got home, was wallowing in the bath, chatting to Elaine who had spent two days @ Santa Pod, the next thing I can remember is standing up naked in our bedroom, leaning against the window sill, screaming in agony, with Elaine and Pat & Roy our next door neighbours all trying to calm me down. Then the room was full of medical people and eventually they got me to the front door, all I could see was flashing blue lights, it turned out there were two medical cars and an ambulance! On arriving at the LRI we bumped into my Brother In Law who'd driven over from Cambridge. Days dragged on and after all sorts of scans/blood tests etc etc, the full story evolved. In the bath I had a seizure, in my thrashing around I broke 4 vertebrae in my back, and acquired a large haematoma in my buttock muscle, causing pain in my left leg. Due to a Calcium deficency I've also got 'brittle bones' So what's next? I've been sent home with a body brace which I've got to wear all the time I'm upright. This is for at least 6 weeks. I've got pills for epilepsy and Calcium for life, and I'm taking Morphine in the quantity that would put down a herd of buffalo. To be continued. |

Not one for doing things by half are you Dave? Hope the neighbours weren't too distressed seeing you naked!! Actually that's an image I can do without as well!
Seriously mate, take it easy. Thinking of you, get well soon. |

Sounds grim Dave but good to hear that repair work is in hand. Tough on Elaine and she has all my sympathy.
Best wishes. Jim |

Glad to hear that you're out of hospital Dave; I hope the body brace isn't TOO uncomfortable - my wife had to wear one (broken vertebrae) for 6 weeks and it took at least 3 weeks for her to "accept" it.
Hope to see you when "they" (Elaine mostly I guess) let you loose again. |
