I was just reading on Planetlemans that RML ran with a revised MZR engine for the race. Does anybody know if the other Mazda powered cars had this same engine, and what exactly was different about it?

Thoroughly enjoyed the event..........
Great to see Jonathan France and his team back. Gargantuan effort by the 'invisible' members of the team who made sure the car actually made it to qualifying and subsequently the race. The initial rebuild after that unfortunate off wasn't finished until 07:30 on the Saturday, then an unexpected engine change saw the team back in the garage at 02:00 on the Sunday morning to get the car sorted in time for warm up. Huge respect to all concerned. Very sad, however, to see a first ever podium snatched away from the team due to what appears to be a recurring Zytek related alternator problem. It would have made the team's toil, trials and tribs seem worthwhile. Congrats to our friends at Speedy Sebah, fantastic effort and richly deserved class win and podium. Well done guys! Nice to see Oreca on the top step of the podium, congratulations to M.de Chaunac and his team! And thank you, thank you, thank you to J-CB and Pescarolo for the most entertaining charge from the back of a Le Mans Series field I can remember. Stunning and quite brilliant, the undoubted highlight of my weekend! |

Yes, and no. Yes, it was dialled back, a little, but no, not the same engine. RML's various announcements over the weekend made that clear, and it is currently unique to RML.

cool photos. Really liked the Mustang at Britcar in August. Too bad we don't see more of those!

Better late than never! Silverstone was by far the best LMS race I've ever seen and I've been going since 2005. JCB was mighty in his charge through the field, I was gutted when he came past at Abbey with a fine jet of liquid squirting out of the back. Judging by the expressions of the complete strangers around me, I wasn't the only one who was disappointed.
With the Pesca out (ish), allegiance switched to ORECA and Speedy. I dearly wanted either of these two to win and it happened to be the ORECA. I left the circuit a very happy chap. I wish the winning car had been a Courage as we knew it but you can't have it all. For the first time, I spent more time at Stowe than Becketts and I was blown away by the sounds (two Zyteks in a row makes the spine tingle!) and the braking distances. The LMP2 Speedy Lola for whatever reason (colour scheme perhaps?) looked to my eyes to be the fastest thing out there through Stowe. Now, with regards to the post-race startline incident, the Speedy car slowed right down next to the pit wall opposite the team's mechanics to celebrate, the driver then stopped the car completely, opened the door and it looked like he got chatting to the crew. The Signature Plus car seemed to be doing the same thing and in all honestly did not seem to be going that fast. I think the driver was just caught out, perhaps his guard was down because the race over or maybe the driver was busy looking at the team on the wall rather than what was ahead. He was probably on the radio talking to them too for all we know. Suddenly, the back end of the Speedy Lola loomed large, the last minute jink to the left was not quite enough. He almost made it but not quite. It is the relative velocity which did the damage, one of the cars was doing 0mph. You could argue the Lola should not have come to a complete halt, others before him slowed right but did not crucially stop and park up. Equally, you could say the Signature Plus driver ought to have been paying a lot more attention to the road ahead. |

I was hoping for some TV highlights of the race. Has there been anything on Eurosport?
