They should probably have a race first before they worry about it.

That's ok, I don't really need my own fingertips. If we get another life, I'd like to return as Eddie Irvine's fingertips

As Adam Smith is the only 'real' racing driver in the series I would have thought he'd stroll it...

Luckily there's 23 real racing drivers - the other's are just wannabe's and have to be content in sitting on the bank and supporting ;-)

I was ashsamed to look through the F3000 line up for this year, and found it hard to remember the achievments of almost most of the drivers... I'll take a look a FPA now

You watched what in the FPA is a driver called Karim Ojjeh? Surely he is related to Mansour and Akram Ojjeh, rulers of TAG (Techniques d'Avant Garde)!

he is the son of mansour

and I've just realised I've got the wrong Smith - this one is the younger brother who started out in Monoposto.

Now it is just purely well-funded, low-speed drivers.

I'd like to see any of this lot get in the top half dozen of a Southern or Northern Zetec or even Regional FF1600 race...

Still you got to give them credit for getting off their arse and having a go though eh !, not all of them have F1 goals.

I dunno, its a very quick car for what you pay, and its fairly hassle free as you just show up and wedge your butt in the seat. For people who are enjoying racing for more pure reasons, it seems like a pretty good system.

Id prefer a close grid regardless of what the actual pole time is in any series.

Personally I think that is only a valid comment if the cars are being driven close to their limit. Unfortunately FPA is a long way from having a grid of cars being driven close to their limits.
Also, typically the grid is far more widely spread than e.g. FF or FR. Commonly they will have 18/20 cars within 1 second, whereas FPA is more likely to be about 3 seconds over the same sort of field.

so its not mini-F1, big deal. Its not supposed to be. Its refreshing to see a seires not full of F1 wannabes and their stage parents.

Prove it

I find it quite funny reading some of these posts from some people on this forum. It appears that a wide majority of armchair enthusiasts that frequent it seem to revel in passing judgement over peoples driving ability when they themselves couldnt the proverbial greasy stick up a dogs arse. Just a thought.

I would suggest that some 'thoughts' are best kept to themselves.. especially when posting on a site which is read by a broad selection of important folk in the industry. Just 'my' opinion of course..

Sticky subject is FPA, and having checked out the times from Silverstone I would suggest that the grid isn't spread too badly - top 12 with a second of each other. should think it makes for some good racing.

I always base my impression on how drivers do against competitors which I've seen lots in the past.. Howard Spooner for one! I think i can remember him having a pretty big accident in a prosport at combe.. a good driver, but I'd be interested to see how quick he would go in a Formula Ford...

Having marshalled for 10 years and competed in speed events for the last 3, I hope my comments are valid??
