Sad to lose LAA. They were always interesting to watch.
I didn't expect things to end well after all the trouble they experienced finding backing earlier this season.

Very nice. Liking the fresh-sounding combination. Always good to see a new team pop up and I wish them all the best.

It seems reports of the demise of Luc Alphand Aventures may not actually be the case. Not according to team manager Philip Poincloux:

Quote:
"It is planned to be at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Le Mans Series do so, however, we find a competitive machine. On this point, we are working on two tracks, one in LMP2 and GT2. I will keep you informed Later, I hope that positive, but do not be too worried. The team should once again be present in 2011. "

Seems like someone should probably tell Luc Alphand this news... Very strange. But good!

Both the classes are being considered, but they'll only compete in one.

According to DSC, that seems to be exactly what's happened- Luc Alphand has stepped back from the team, but Philippe Poincloux is looking to relocate and continue

Imola? Interesting choice for a ILMC race. It's going to be a tight old race with ILMC entries in there... although the new pitlane complex should swallow up over 40 cars with no problem. Too bad they ditched the Hungaroring, I missed my chance to go there last year.

Also, it seems like they've listened to Hindhaugh's rants about Portimao and moved it later into the year... if it stays at Portimao (what other track is there in Portugal apart from Estoril though?).

What was Hindy's rant about Portimao?

Something about the fact that it was placed in the middle of the tourist season, which increased logistical (and a lot of other) difficulties with the organisation of the event. Can't remember right now whether it was on Midweek Motorsport or during the Algarve coverage. And one of the suggestions discussed was in fact moving the race out of season, either in spring or autumn.

Looks like Oreca are hoping to have "five or six" 03 LMPs running next year in the hands of customers. The Sbarta-Nissan being number 1...

Everybody told to the LMS organization that racing in Algarve in the high season was a big mistake! They thought that it would attract a lot of English, French and German tourist who travel to Algarve to toast in the sun... that was even a bigger mistake.

As already stated here, most of the Portuguese motorsports fans are located between Lisbon and Oporto. I know guys from Oporto that spend less money traveling to spa for the 24 Hours race, than to Portimão. So... even in September, getting people to a track that is amazing but stands in the middle of nowhere, will be complicated.

There are two other circuits, but only one has the conditions for such a race: Estoril circuit, outside Lisbon, the other is just a very short race track.

Yet, Portimão is soo much better than Estoril... And I live less than 30 minutes from there!

If only it had been built in the north of Portugal
