Stories

Hi all.
I have a little appeal for you. I am currently starting to write a book on the history of marshaling, this will not be a long boring tome of history but a book full of the fun ancdotes that fill out weekends trackside espcially from the older guys who remember the stories from the 50s and 60s onwards. What I really need is these stories sent to me from you. I have listened to some wonderful characters and their stories and we need to preserve these tales or they will be lost forever which would be a tragedy for motorsport.
If you know someone who has some good tales of marshal mayhem from the old days or you yourself can tell a yarn, and can spare the time, please email the details/stories to me for inclusion. The best email address is mike@bikeson-circuit.net. Promise i will reply to all.
Thanks for your indulgance.
Mike Singleton.

a book you say.... it may well need to be a couple of thousand pages thick,or you may have to bring it out in volumes,as i am sure there are hundreds,if not thousands of stories that could be told.good luck mate, and let us know when it,s coming out......by the way will we get a discount.

Mike, have you spoken to Tony O'Reilly? He was one of the founder members of the Irish marshals club and this is his 50th year marshalling. If it's stories you want, he's your man!

I think George Copeland is putting together something similar to mark 50 years of the BMMC. It's probably worth talking to George

I tell you what that book sound like a lot of fun as long as its not full of marshalling in jokes rather some of the genuinely funny tales that are in plentiful supply out there.
