Odd approach for a 24 hour race.

Seems that way. But I can't think of any other reason why they put 3:24 instead of a more subtle improvement.

All the laps were a decent time. 5x 3:31s 3x 3:32s 3x 3:34s + in and out laps It looks like they can. How much fuel saving in that can’t fully tell. Glick did two 13 lappers on test day. None since. They were slower than Alpines, with some laps clearly interrupted by slow zones or similar. Toyota did two 13 lappers. Again both test day. Again, these included some slow laps due to flags and slow zones. It’s looking fun. |

No, there's plenty of glory for getting pole at Le Mans. It's meaningless as far as the race outcome is concerned and they (all) know it, but it's the picture everyone wants on the front of the newspapers and magazines.... There was a huge cheer from the stands when Lapierre set that lap.....

Yes, I agree. It is definitely something to aim for and can help psychologically to know you have that one lap pace. As well as the glory as you say |

Personally I don't see any of them planning to try and do 13 lap stints.

A decent amount of slow zone or FCY and they’re all there.
If you’ve got two cars (and it falls right) do you push with one on 12 laps and eek out that extra lap with the other? What we don’t know is how many stints the tyres do this year. |

Sure, SC's or slow zones they will do more laps. Eeking out an extra lap when there's no cautions, no, too much of a risk. Blow it and run out of fuel and you walk away with oeuf on your face...... I don't think it's necessary either. If I was team manager at Toyota, Glick or Alpine, I'd be doing a Wyer, and having the cars run to a set pace - one of them at least (or the only Alpine). As I understand it, it's likely to be hot. I'd let everyone else break their cars....

A good approach.
Let’s say they can all do 13 laps (or chose a different integer). Might be 13.1 for Alpine, 13.5 for Glickenhaus and 13.9 for Toyota. Might color their choice. |

13.9 and 13.1 are probably no brainers in both respects. 13.5? You'd have to be pretty sure!

I found my motortrend password (even though I'm still salty to have to pay for a subscription since I've been a magazine subscriber for 32 years) and am ready to go!!! It will be awesome to see all the people back at the track!

I know. The other content on the app is good. There's a lot more motor racing on there than you thought. |

Really excited for this race; weather looking absolutely perfect for the entire thing. Cool temps at night should lead to some fantastic lap times

Maybe it was a little earlier but still...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas Happy Le Mans everyone ! |

Well of course we have 2 farmer's markets this weekend so the start and the end of the race I'll be otherwise occupied so that's great. RLM WILL be on the phone and the wife and business partner can deal. We actually have a few customers who wear Glickenhaus hats so I'm sure they'll approve Got the French pastries but not in France and none for me so 2 problems there. But they're tasty and a celebration of good butter as God intended. Last edited by broadrun96; 11 Jun 2022 at 12:10. |
