Awesome - eviscerate a good track like Eastern Creek so a bunch of relatively bland GTs can go race around it? If V8 Supercars run there, there is no practical reason to muck with it!

Didn't Andy Wallace break his ribs there many a moon ago testing the 3.5L Toyota? Something to do with slamming hard against the harness flinging the thing down into the very rapid T1...

Looks like they will be doing laps around a street circuit in the middle of the South Australian outback according to the map on the FIA GT site.
Their timing of earlier on in the season, maybe Melbourne

You would think that they (FIA GT and the local promoters and track venue) would be jumping out of their skins to promote and advertise the whole show and drum up maximum exposure. Heaven knows, it will require a big effort to get it promoted to the vast majority of Aus m/sport followers who only seem to be interested in V8 S/cars. I've still got my doubts that there will be an Aus round - distance and prohibitive costs etc.

Yeah. We can still dream, though. I would love to see it at Eastern Creek, that way I only have to travel about 180 kilometres. If it was at Mount Panorama though, I'd be there in 5 minutes.....

I think Phillip Island would be ideal but it seems unlikely a round will be run here, they need to be announcing it shortly to find support categories as well! Most categories are putting calendars in place for 2010 already...

I think a better comparison shot would be the Saleen vs the Matech Ford GT.

Next year? No way in hell this is happening! The proposed reconfiguration of EC is only that, a proposal. AFAIK they need a fair amount of money to get it done; nothing has been announced yet. I'll believe it when I see it!

If FIA GT1 is going to race at EC they will surely be doing so on the current anti-clockwise configuration.

Yeah, EI didn't have a good shot of a 2009 spec and a 2010 spec together.

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum.

Translation:

Here is a 430GT2 special ordered by a client of the corse clienti departement. It will compete next year and has a GT1 style wing and an engine developping 560hp. These photos were taken at Maranello and developed in collaboration with Michelotto.

Welcome Macross; the article is very speculative, it talk about the chance to see a F430 GT1 (Af Corse and Vitaphone??) in next World GT Championship.

The pics are about the F430 ADAC GT, that run in the VLN in the 2008 and was destroyed by the fire.

The car was a special version of the Michelotto F430 GT2, with GT1-like aerodynamic, splitter, wing and engine without the restrictors, GT1 wheels/tyres and a the price about 465.000 EUROS (versus 435.000 of GT2 version)

In my opinion this is the Ferrari GT1 :

/me is disappointed.

International GT supremo Stephane Ratel has confirmed plans to banish the GT1 class from the Spa 24 Hours next year, and give GT2 centre stage.

Speaking at Spa today, Ratel confirmed that the 2010 Belgian enduro would be part of the planned 2010 European GT2 Championship. GT3 and GT4 cars will also be eligible, while the new GT1 World Championship will have two, separate one-hour races at the meeting.

Ratel said: "We think this way we can have a bigger grid in the Spa 24 Hours and help contain costs for the first year of the GT1 World Championship."

He also expects Aston Martin and Chevrolet to appear in the GT2 series to compete against the established cars of Porsche and Ferrari.

This year's 24 Hours, which starts tomorrow afternoon, has attracted 37 cars, 13 in the GT2 category.

That car looks alot like the Ferrari F430 that raced in the VLN a couple of times.

like i said in the other topic, 3 years tops then i can see this thing being a failure. Im pretty sure peolpe got to watch the fia gt championship for the 2 different classes?? Its like going to Le mans and only having the p1 boys out with only 15 cars racing. I just dont see how this will work, basically he is trying to make is the ``F1`` of sport car racing.

doesnt mean i wont support it but id rather watch the gt3 class.

The GT1 category is already a shell of its former self, no GT1s in ALMS, only 3 or 4 per race in LMS and only some pretty old cars in FIA-GT with a couple of new cars that don't have the oomph yet and now this, no GT1s in the premier GT event of the year. The class is dead, so you might as well put a stake in it and turn out the lights.
