I won't go in to technical stuff, we have much wiser people to do that on here (knighty art thou here??).

But I would like to point you to the article on RE wich clearly states it is a brand new engine, not re development of the "old" rv8xx.

Seems I was beaten to the point by TF110

Audi will also have a hybrid system. So they will still have big torque advantage

ok i didn't read about new engine, so i did a mistake about rv8klm. But even if is a new engine, for sure won't have same torque of a diesel. Hope that hybrid will help to have a better acceleration! the races will tell.

A Hybrid diesel, that's something I'd like to see! But I still trust Toyota to know hybrids better than Audi. But Audi do the diesel thing quite well. Time will tell. But I do hope this new engine is something becoming of this TS030. It looks quite good in high-res shots. I was a little skeptical about the headlights, but now that real pictures have been released, it looks a lot better.

This. Toyota has extensive experience with hybrid drive systems not only in production vehicles but also the Supra HV-R race car.

Also, from what I've heard Audi plans to test and possibly develop a diesel hybrid but race with their already proven diesel only powertrains this year.

Audi might have got technical input from Porsche, who have a lot of experience with the hybrid 911.

Supposedly Audi has registered at least one hybrid R18 for Le Mans. At one stage there were rumors that Audi would enter 4 cars in total, 2 regular R18s and 2 hybrid R18s.

You speak of the RV8K, but this isn't that engine. Racecar Engineering article even says this is a brand new engine but same displacement and cylinder count. Why don't you hold off judgement until they actually race. Then we'll see if their Super Capacitors can challenge Audi's diesel.
Agree.

wait until the competition actually starts.
No one gave audi much hope ast year but the Pug's blew it pretty comprehensively.

Just wait until they get a flux capacitor that works....Then they'll be racing off into the future...

As for Bernies comments its all ball games....
He's just scoring F1 points over endurance racing.
If he can convince manufacturers that spending 50 mil on endurance racing is a waste maybe he can entice them to spend 150-200 mil in F1 instead...

With Porsche entering Le Mans in the following years I'm not sure they would want to share secrets.

I just hope that Toyota can fill the void left by Peugeot, a lot of those Audi/Peugeot battles were amazing to watch. The GT-One was very competitive before getting canned and I would expect the TS030 to continue the trend.

That's why I figure it'll be an awesome car. The TS020 was fast out the door. I expect the same for it's 'successor'.

After looking at numerous photos I must admit I am getting more used to the front headlamps, they are still not perfect but they are kind of growing on me.

I think I will be supporting Toyota due to the past Audi domination (Until Peugeot came along atleast). Its strange as I never decided whether I preferred Audi or Peugeot at the time, just relishing in the super competitive battles.

I was quick to use one. I was waiting for the car to be released to use it as an Avatar. I would have used the TF110 F1 car, but there were no good avatar sized shots. Are they testing today or is this just a roll-out? If not I hope they test more the next couple of days. I'm sure that's what they said they were doing.

Will they be actually allowed to race in such a set-up? I was under impression that LMPs should be passenger-seat-ready.

They're scheduled to test Paul Ricard from the 24th-27th. Whether or not they used this first day solely for the roll out I'm not sure.

Yes, in theory 2-seaters. But I think it has become a norm to place electronics etc. stuff there?

And with the GT-One (TS020) Toyota put their fueltank in the space that was originally intented to be the luggage space! ACO was not amused, but they (Toyota) got away with it!
