Are you surprised at that? Bollards held in with star picket stakes for cars to run over, pop tyres, and demolish suspension and body parts are not quite on the FIA to-do list.
The only saving grace is that if the FIA thing got approved, that this circuit would be too short and dropped from the calendar anyway. Wont help Jason Richards and whats left of his banana |

Remember Ambrose last year when he hit the spike.

IIRC he wasn't the only one..... it was almost like a manditory pit stop for all the teams at one stage.

Just because its NZ's current premier track doesnt mean we should ignore the safety issues!!!

You could have a mega shunt anywhere though- if there was **** all over the fastest part on any track in the series there is a good chance you could have a big one.
BTW- kudos to most for being well behaved at Surfers. In the olden days there use to be a few bannanas to be taken to the dump, but nobody seemed to have a beyond repair shocker... |

After just watching MS on Ch10 coverages re the tyre placment on the track I whole heartly agree with Skaife, But as I have said b4 TC droconan rule all the drivers have got buckly chance of things changing. Why don't they start a driver ass up like the GPDA in F1 and they could have Compton as the president. Then perhaps Aussie Bernie TC might just listen to the people who are making all his money for him. But Skaify keep it up and stick it up them.

But Skaife was the one who made them install the tyres at Adelaide that tripped Brad Jones over. The teams own the series and they make the rules. It shows how stupid they are when they complain about rules that they wrote themself.

That little wobble thing where the track seems to dip twice looks pretty ordinary as well... wet or dry...
Its rare to see an SBR car look out of control, but in Rusty's hands it looked diabolical.... When are we going to Wellington and/or Auckland Harbourside again? |

Another Street race, come on GTR. I thought that would be last thing we need.

Its the likely scenario... I dont think there are any other NZ circuits long enough to satisfy the FIA requirements for this class of racing.

I would say population base and the money that brings in to the circuit is the main reason it is held there. have a look at the other tracks here http://www.motorsport.org.nz/Tracks/tracks.htm Last edited by Warwick; 8 Nov 2003 at 10:15. |

I loved that comment in the press conference...
"The only thing we're missing is Neil, he'll be the only one more ****ed off than me!" or something to that effect Neil and bollards.... |
