Assuming there is not a external reason (mechanical DNF, etc.) one beats the other, do you expect the Red Bull masters expect DR to beat Yuki in Hungary?

I would agree that overall, they have expectations that over the course of the remainder of 2023 he must beat Yuki to have a future in the organization. But I just wonder when and by how much they need him to outperform him. Does he get some level of "getting up to speed" after being out of a car.

I expect him to out-qualify and out-race Yuki in Hungary. I won't be surprised if he fails at one or the other, given it seems the car is something of a dog and may take some adapting to.

However that is as far as my leniency goes. After that, it is counting towards his future, or lack thereof.

I think there are too many variables at play. In your example, DR was maybe good but not great? And was carried by the car? Hard to say for sure. Even his performance in the AT may not answer that.

I think DR has speed. What I wonder is why he had such a slump. Was it him not being able to sync with the the qualities of the cars he was driving, struggling with confidence issues after having the wind taken out of his sails, natural progression of some drivers slowing at some point in their career? Some or all of those?

My personal opinion is that his peak performance may require a car that suits his style. And that he may suffer more than others if the car is not working well for him. If that is the case, he may significantly struggle in the AT. I am leaning toward him struggling against Yuki, but I would not put money down to back up that opinion. Which is why I think the next few races will be interested to watch from an AT perspective.

It could be one of the most interesting aspects to follow over the remainder of the season.
If DR can form a good relationship with his engineer, it may well be that the set up and development goes in a hitherto unrealized direction and DR is able to achieve far more from the car than either YT or NDV were able to achieve, in which case it would fully justify his time at AT.
And if the direction is what Helmut Marko has stated could or would be, more aligned with RBR then DR could have a fruitful year at AT in 2024.

All of that could propel the likelihood of DR taking the Perez seat at the end of Checo's contract.

yeah its a messed up likeness for sure! the team has it up on their insta page so im assuming its one of their official race posters but quality of the artist is for sure suspect!

team probably ran out of budget!

First few races he well might, till Dan get his "eye in" again, gets used to the car and learns how to get that last few % out of it...

He will be up to speed, but that last tiny bit which makes the difference needs familiarity and time to find.
