That wouldn't worry me - I can usually manage without Eurosport's delayed, half-hearted and butchered coverage of NASCAR races.

What has upset me is finding that Sky Sports' usually excellent Daytona coverage has disappeared without trace this year. Does anyone know the background to this? Does it mean we won't be getting any worthwhile NASCAR (and IRL?) coverage in the UK this year?

We will be getting Skys excellent IRL coverage and i think NASCAR Busch as well. The reason that sky won't be showing the daytona 500 is that Eurosport hold the tv rights to all the races. The only problem is that they will only show a couple of races live like previous years, they could show all races live if they wanted.

Hope you're right about the Busch coverage - although Sky usually show the Daytona and Rockingham Busch races and they have nothing at all listed for February this year.

I honestly don't understand Eurosport - how can they afford to buy the rights to major events, just to stop people watching them? Their commitment and understanding of motorsport seems sadly lacking. How can a chopped about version of half the race, shown a day or two later, possibly do justice to the best racing spectacle of the year?

I dont know why eurosport have brought the NASCAR coverage for europe. They probably think that a one hour highlights program on a monday is good coverage. I have had a look on the eurosport-tv website and they do hold the rights to show 39 live broadcasts, i think they were hoping to sell them to someone else.

I too was looking forward to some live coverage of NASCAR on Eurosport. But like it has been said before, it looks like we will not be seeing many live races.

We could be getting 4 hours of live NASCAR each Sunday. But instead we will get Just some race highlights.
