Suzuka Winner
What a surprise, M Schumaker won but this was a surprise, R Schumaker doing very well well.
What are your thoughts? |

Reasonably interesting race, but not a classic by any stretch of the imagination.

Not too bad.. we have a shuffling of positions in the pack led by JV, a good climb back up the board by Rubens until contact with DC, see drivers make mistakes and lose places, 20 laps with a struggling Sato with Hans, some nice position dices, and topped of with good drives from Schumachers...both proving doubters wrong.

Michael hasn't proved any doubters wrong because there aren't any.
Ralf hasn't proved any doubters wrong because one good performance every 10 years years isn't impressive. Anyways.... As expected, TGF wound up winning easily. He was always going to wasn't he! Not an epic race by any means, and obviously nowhere near the excitement of the previous three, but interesting nonetheless. The director seemed to miss everything though. Ah well.........back to watching Brazil 2001. |

Not a classic, but enjoyable none the less. Another scrappy performance from JPM though, and a suitably candid moment from DC and Rubens on their 'incident'.
Poor coverage, the director missed a lot of the action, which IMO strengthens the argument for FOM TV to provide the coverage at all the races. |

When starting with no set up data, the best car and the best driver are always going rise to the top. It just so happens that the best driver is in the best car anyways.

Would have been far more interesting had it rained at any time during the race,Oh well, let's see what Brazil throws at'em.

It's a shame the director was compeltely off form, missing a lot of the action, but it was only a moderately good race. DC and Rubens colliding really shot the fox (as Charlie Cox would say) and prevented any real battles over the points towards the end.
Ralf was my driver of the day though (and when did I last say that?). His pace was impressive,a dn he made great use of the opportunity of a great grid position to finally score another podium. |

the Schumachers . unbeatable today .. good race from Button and Bar.. good showing once again from Sauber .. |

Another dull race. A few moments of interest, but really, hardly worth watching.

I think what made the race a little worse than perhaps it was, was getting up at half bloody five in the morning.

I think James Allen was half asleap too, I was just starting to welcome a race start without his "GO!!!" when about half a minute after the lights go out "GO!!!"
well maybe I exagerate! I thought it was a good race but a shame about the coverage, no Button letting Sato passed etc. etc. |

That was by far the worst coverage I have ever seen of a race. The Director should be shot. It is unforgivable to completely miss incidents like the rubens/dc one, whilst showing shots of the Japanese BAR mechanics! Appalling.

Oh well one in the boring cupboard then...
cant complain though weve had 3 great races on the trot... Director was horrible... i think we spent a lap and a half looking at Sato's helmet!! Well done the Schumachers... too quick for anybody else... |

I avoided the yawning problem by crawling out of bed at 6.15, hitting record on the video and crawling straight back to bed. Then I watched it at a far more civilised time.
Not a bad race to be fair. I still love watching cars go through 130R - that change of direction flat out is an inspiring sight. I'm not sure Michael was "always" going to win this, not before quali at least, but once he got out in front I don't think anyone was going to stop him. Some good battles down the field, obviously helped by the qualifying lottery and lack of setup info. Just a shame the tv director couldn't keep up - the coverage was truly woeful. |

the scraps with those 5 cars earlier was good unfortunately it was for the wrong positions...
unlucky for DC... had a good race... a lso we were robbed of a Rubens late charge when he retired with a "runt fight" suspension failure as Ted Kravitz so eloquently put it. |

I find 130R tiresome now. It's not the same with concrete runoff. And they've wrecked the last chicane as well!
Luckily, the Suzuka snake remains largely unblemished! |

Possibly a tad off topic, but why is a thread titled 'Suzuka Winner' accompanied by an angry faced smilie?

Add 130R to the list of great challenging corners which've been dulled by obsessive 'safety' concerns and an insistance on taking the challenge out of F1 - it's still good, but you suffer much less for getting it wrong.
Ted made a right mess of that Rubens situation didn't he - I was trying to avoid laughing at that. |
